Yep, GR is non Mivec.

GPX has 2 pot calipers, GR is single pot since it's slightly less power.

I have a manual GR, as well as the club president (we have bigger c0cks than GPX owners too).

Tiptronic (auto) is at a disadvantage against manual as far as speed is concerned.

I have a GR, I've given a tiptronic GPX a go and came out almost a full cars length in front.

As for Manual GPX (stock) vs Manual GR (stock), GR would be at the disadvantage.

    GPX - 150 kw @flywheel
    GR - 127 kw

Manual is by far more fun to drive. It depends though, if you use your car as a daily driver and always drive in peak hour traffic for a significant period of your weekly driving, then you may consider buying a tiptronic.

However many people share the view (as do I) that if you drive any type of sports car, it has to be manual to really enjoy it, but that's really up to personal preference.

if you've never driven a manual sports car before, please do yourself a favour and at least give it a go, you won't be dissapointed ;)

That might be a little tough to do around here :)

Nothing wrong with the tips, if you get a GPX tiptronic you can still get decent ATW power, I got 111kw on 98 pump gas with only a very good CAI/Filter combo on my old one. Torque is down over a manual though (and since it is torque that actually gets you off the line, that's the important figure).

If, like me, you like your morning coffee and shave in rush hour traffic, go the tiptronic. If you are likely to see any sort of track time, go for the manual :)

ALSO, if you get a tiptronic, invest in a transmission cooler, I got mine done for less than $200 NZD (the black thing below the radiator pipe), plumbed in series with the standard one...

    Image

Mine isn't in the best place by far, but by using a thermal probe there was a 7 degree drop in fluid temperature over standard, probably because the thermal fan on the other side of the radiator is forcing air through it.

Nope, not turbo. If it was, I'd me much more than a car's lenght ahead :)

As sad as it sounds, that really is the different between auto (tip) / manual. Lack of torque / "responsiveness" goes a long, long way.
