red p plate cop cars

interesting this happened to me yesterday
a red p plate ute drove past me on the freeway going about 110-120
it had lights all around it and had 4 aerials, at first the lights made me think it was cop car
and then it made me start to think


if a cop car is undercover and puts red p plates on does that mean that the cop car has to obey the red p plate laws?
like 90 km/h on the freeway?

but with that said, what a friend's dad used to do (he was a cop, been one for about 20 or 30 yrs, so has climbed his way up) is he pulls rank on the cop that pulls him over and just say it's work related, and gets out of it.

By the way .. In NSW (not sure about QLD) .. If the public put in a complaint about a cop speeding or recklessly driving with the sirens off .. The Police Force has to investigate.. And if you are speeding or what not, and there was no call over the VKG, then you loose the points and get the fine ..

The days are gone when a cop could do anything, and say "The sirens were off because I was approaching the scene and did not want to scare the burglar away" ... Which that was what they would say if sprung going through red lights and speeding ...

Nowadays General Duty Cops are on the street, in cars pulling people over, instead of just highway patrol .. So, a constable would be able to book and fine the commissioner if he did something wrong.. And it would be in his interest to do so.. Cause if he gest sprung cutting him slack, then he looses his job ...

Some laws had to be passed in NSW as police were manipulating the system to get their officer buddies off charges by filing technicalities... So the tree has well been shaken here...
