Yeah they not bad, just be aware those $100 tint film isn't the best quality, & also make sure u ask them what it cover as well, cause some will charge extra for the FTO rear window.
Winter is always a bargain for windows tinting.

The $100 stuff is their lowest grade, they advertise it to get you through the door and then try to upsell you to the more expensive stuff.
I got mine tinted back in December and after checking out Tint-a-Car, Premiere and The Tint Professor, I decided to go with the Tint Professor. I made this decision based on the quality of the product, the price and the fact they do a lot of work for the guy selling imports up the road.
I got 70% on the sides and 80% on the rear, it makes a massive difference to the temperature of the car in summer and looks really good too.
I think I might still have a "refer a friend" discount coupon form them somewhere, if you're interested let me know and I'll see if I can dig it up.
Going from memory, so I could be wrong, the price for the top of the line stuff was about $250. I also had to pay a bit extra to have some existing crappy tint film removed.

ruchi u better clarify what u mean by 70% & 80% as some tinting company use the percentage as darkness, while some use it as the amount of light that can get through.
And some brand are darker then the others so check carefully as the Vic state limit is 30% light (not darkness) at the side windows, & 20% at the rear (provided your car had two side mirror). Other state i'm aware of is 20% all around.

70% darkness = 30% light (100 - 70 = 30)
80% darkness = 20% light (100 - 80 = 20)
From what I've been told, 70% / 30% is the legal limit in VIC however they have no way to test the rear windscreen without physically removing it, so you can get away with 80% / 20%. Any darker than that on the rear and it will be noticeable in comparison to the side windows.

I would've thought that window tinting would be cheapest in spring when there is great demand for it and lots of competition. Or is it like seasonal clothing - much cheaper OFF SEASON ???FTO338 wrote:Winter is always a bargain for windows tinting.
Please let me know because I'm currently delaying my window tint until Sept/Oct

Hey guys, Im getting my windows tinted at tint professor on Thursday. they have advised 20% at the back and 30% at the sides. I have asked if he can push the sides a little darker and he said he can, but to be careful etc... he said he will do 28% (not much difference).
He showed me some cars done that day, and they did a great job on them.
What I would like to know is, what is the standard tinting on the FTO ? approximately in percentage? 40%???
and secondly, do you think I can try get them to take the side windows to 25% or less?

Does anyone else have what looks very much like factory tints on their rear and side windows (well, what passes for side windows - those little tiny ones behind the doors)? My car has some very dark tinting on these windows and it looks very much like a factory job.
I'm a bit worried because 35% is the legal limit here and I'm sure they're darker than that. However you can get away with darker tints if they are factory fitted ... but proving it is a different story.

I am sure its factory fitted tinting... and yes mine are also very dark.
Cops wont pull you over for that, unless your already doing something illegal and they want to get you for 'other items'.
I would be interested in what people think the drivers and passengers window tint rating is.... and people who have changed / upgraded their tinting - did it make a big difference and what ratings did you change it too.

I actually find that really dark 'factory' tinting to be a bit of a pain in the a$$ - it makes reversing in the dark very interesting. Not good when you have a long skinny driveway like I do. It's a bit too dark, but I'll live with it ... and admittedly it makes the car look pretty cool...
Not that rearward visability in the FTO is that great anyway, especially with the vR rear wing in the way...
