Change ATF Filter w/o changing ATF?

Post by phunkydude »

Can i change auto gearbox oil filter without changing the gearbox oil?
Will it spills everywhere if i just remove the atf filter w/o draining the atf?
(The atf filter is facing upwards instead of downwards like the engine oil filter.)

Thanks. Cheers!

(i got it serviced last year and for don't what reason the shop only change the atf but leave the filter as it is. I checked the atf and it's pinkish so i guess they did actually change the fluid.)

Its the same Z411 you use for engine oil. If you're pedantic about types of filters, then go for a Coopers Z411 rather than a Ryco Z411.

Most places usually stock both these days.
