First post, sorry need some help!

Post by clif »

Well all was going very well with my little red fto, just had a catback exhaust put on this week, and touch screen dvd player installed.
also went with cold air induction.

Long story short, last night I picked up the wife in Brissy city with all that bloody rain and I sucked up a monstrous amount
of water into the engine.
It ticks like crazy, took it to a local mechanic, he compression tested the cylinders and number 1 cylinder is shot, looks like a
bent conrod, damn it.

So, I have been looking around for a replacement motor, not too many mivec engines around brissy.

Does anyone know of some for sale?

Any help or suggestions appreciated :)

Thanks Chiinkstarrh,

I have seen your car a lot in coopers plains near the fast food place near the railway lines.
I work around the corner.

I rang jap autos up and they have a mivec motor for $1799, they said about 110ks on it.

Good news is that on my motor all cylinders measured over 210 compression, just the one cylinder is 160 compression.

So after some brainstorming I might be just taking the head off and sump and replacing the one conrod and piston with piston rings.

If it looks too bad inside then I still might have to replace the engine.

Well, I picked up 2 mivec off the guys below last week for $595 each + freight. Havent got them yet, but low mileage and 3 months warranty. At that price, doesnt matter if they are near brisbane or not. Wouldnt be surprised if they had more:

Damn! I thought I haven't seen his car in ages!
Thought he might have started working somewhere else lol.

Ok, trying to find engine parts is not easy, have tried ringing bursons, and a number of performance places,
no one sells conrods or pistons, so if anyone has a heads up on where to buy them that would be fantastic!

    Cheers.

Yes, Thanks heaps ma man!!! I owe you a beer or 3 hahaha

Also a side note, I got it done at 'Coorparoo Mechanics' ph: 3847 1578

He had zero issues doing the job and was brilliant, he's only a little guy with just his son working with him,
but he's got skillz, and a clean workshop, I highly recommend him if you want some work done.

        Cheers.
