Re: HKS FTO
I owe you a bottle of red Dan. I told them the just jap prices and now they can do the pump for $170 and the regulator for $210. They are about to take the turbo off now...fingers crossed it's repairable but I doubt it. Should find out in a couple of days.

Re: HKS FTO
Nice, those prices are better.
Turbo should be repairable. Its a pretty common size. They might just put a kit through it (bearings & seals etc) or just replace the cartridge (whole centre assembly)
Either way, cheaper than replacing.

Oh, awesome to hear!AJ wrote:I told them the just jap prices and now they can do the pump for $170 and the regulator for $210.
That will definitely improve the bank balance a bit.
kinda shows they were definitely taking you for a ride with the original prices they gave you though.

Dunno if you're trying to be funny with that remark after what happened at the last DIY day (aka piss up day)AJ wrote:I owe you a bottle of red Dan.

Re: HKS FTO
$1300 to do that.. =/
You guys need to find new workshops.. no offence
I find the price exxy but that's imho.
You can get the parts cheaper.
The walbro will do the job but are not as reliable as bosch pumps.. a lot of evo racers use walbro and occasionally replace them after some race meets.
Getting the turbo work done is really your call AJ.. are you happy with the power or do you wanna future proof yourself with power and get a larger turbo and run it not on max efficient boost then increase it when you get bored.. too many questions/variables lol.

Re: HKS FTO
I know it's a lot but I've just got to the point where I'm getting too tired always looking for the cheapest and not getting anywhere. I've just tossed them the keys and said 'fix it'.
Someone's always going to tell me 'it's too much' or 'why did you go there/do that? you should have done X' etc.
I just have to learn for myself. I don't have tones of time to drive all over town, leaving my car hours away from home. CRD is piratically around the corner from me, they have a good reputation. I'm not going to be flogging the car on the track every weekend or anything like that so the Walbro should be ok. It's what they recommended and they have made some serious cars in the past so that will do me.
As for turbo size I find this one a good mix of good power and not much lag. I'll look at new computers later on but for now it'll do me.

AJ, feel free to PM me in the future with workshops etc. I'm more than happy to help and probably save dosh and headaches in the process.
CRD are definitely good, Jim is one of the best tuners around.. not cheap and you probably need to spend big before they take it completely seriously.

Re: HKS FTO
Could have had the turbo repaired but for $180 more I could get a new one so I opted for that. A new Garrett GT2560r.
I'm not going to tell you how much it was for fear of getting flammed. Fingers crossed I can get the car back on Saturday, if not it will be early next week.

CHRISTIANITY: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

New front stopping power for The HKS.
Before:

Now:

And on the passenger side of the car. old - new.

You are not seeing a reflection. There is no slotted groove on the passenger side. It was worn down.

Re: HKS FTO
Thanks again Dan!
We weren't able to get the rear pads on as we can't compress the piston back to fit the new pad in. I'm hoping that someone can help out with this at the Bonfire with some sort of piston compressor type tool please?
Next up, computer or suspension? I can only do 1 before the Bonfire

Hmm, thought they were the same as most other mitsus which were just compression.

OH well, we'll try that at the bonfire then AJ.
See if you can get another wheel centric hub ring, or pm Dwayne if he has any lying around.
By the way, the photos were by Astron Girl (she wants to be acknowledged for her 'goodness')
