Bathurst Motor Festival - Easter 2011
Yes the rumours are true, we're off to Bathurst again this Easter with the FTO
This will be our third year in a row at Bathurst and I'm very confident of a class win this year.
The event is very different this year though, our category Prod Sports will get over 3 hours track time for the weekend including 2x 30min races on Saturday and a 1 hour endurance race on Sunday. This event will actually form the first round of our Enduro series, with rounds at Eastern Creek, Morgan Park and Philip Island to follow later in the year.
We also have a few GT cars racing with us;
2x Lamborghini Gallardo's!
A Dodge Viper, Corvette Z06 & several GT3 Porsches!
Also our usual fast guns, Iain Pretty's replica GT-40 and the Honda powered Lotus Elise's!
My class consists exclusively of MX-5's, which is a bit disappointing, as there was a Qld based Lotus Elise entered in my class that I was looking forward to sending back to Qld in shame, but they have since pulled out. Still a couple of those MX-5's are pretty quick, so it should make for good racing. I expect to run around mid to 2/3 field so there will be plenty of getting passed and a little bit of passing. Can't wait to do a full hour race around the mountain
I'll post up more info in the coming weeks. In the meantime below are links to the official website and the event schedule.
Hopefully we can get a few FTO's up to the mount this year for support. Also if anyone would like to volunteer to help out over the weekend I can probably use a couple of extra sets of hands this year. It's a lot more fun than just watching

For those that haven't checked out the website, entry to the event is by bank note donation to Cancer Council of New South Wales.

Re: Bathurst Motor Festival - Easter 2011
Bit of a quick update.
As usual, I'm struggling to get the car ready in time, still got so much to do, a lot of it won't get done for Bathurst now.
Hopefully we will have the emanage installed and running though. It's now working correctly and with upgraded injectors and fuel pump there should be no issues with fuel capability. I've got it booked in for a tune on Tuesday morning so fingers crossed.
And if you make it out for a look I'll be in garage 21, sharing with a Porsche GT3
Should be a huge weekend of motorsport.
Just hope the weather holds off

Tune was semi successful today, albeit still with a few bugs in the emanage. But more on that later. It's good enough for now, so will be running with this at Bathurst.
So who's coming

We're here Oh how it's good to be home
Just need to do a wheel alignment in the morning and a few tweaks on the computer and then we hit the track for our first practice session at 11:15.
Can't wait

Did you get a chance to get the car onto the dyno to do a tune on it at all?
If yes how did it go?

Re: Bathurst Motor Festival - Easter 2011
Yes, still a few bugs though, got 134kw atw. Was a little disappointed but was running on slicks and they generate a bit of drag, my tuner reckons this would be closer to 140 with street tyres.
Anyway was an interesting session, spent most of it getting the bigger injectors to work correctly, but still an intermittent bug with these.
Tested changing mivec, don't, is perfectly tuned
Interestingly adjusting timing had negative effects as well, so this engine really is optimally tuned from the factory. The only thing left that we can do to increase power is increase air to the engine, so we can increase fuel. So will probably be trying a larger throttle body at some point.
But will be good enough for now

Re: Bathurst Motor Festival - Easter 2011
Nope, constant problems yesterday.
Don't know where the extra 10kw went but it's not transferring to the track.
Was down over 6 seconds on last year when I should have been up.
Results for Practice
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... 11.MOUN.P6
Results for Qual1
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... 11.MOUN.Q6
Results for Qual2
http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/resul ... 11.MOUN.Q8
I put new DS3000 pads in the rear for Qual2 and these definitely helped, got down to a 2:54 but then lost 5th gear, synchro jammed!
So spent last night until midnight removing the CDH390 injectors and putting the stock ones back in, and also confirm the gearbox was all OK just no 5th or reverse.
Went out in Race 1 this morning, really just a practice run to see how the stock injectors would handle the Premium100 fuel, and felt much better
With no 5th gear I still went over 3 seconds faster!

More updates tonight

Re: Bathurst Motor Festival - Easter 2011
More dramas yesterday...
Found a nice big crack in my less than 12mth old DBA rotors in post Race1 checks
So Race2 was spent bedding a new set of $90 Repco rotors!
