weird little valve things
ok so i'm talking in the back bank of cylinders thats a pain to get to. i pulled the whole rocker assembly thing out and in the head theres these little metal discs just chilln around. i think there supposed to be on these little metal dome things on the underside of the rocker, like a magnet but pretty weak. just wondering whats up with them are they supposed to come off that easy or whats going on there? thanks

so the first one is a pic of the head at the back atm, where i'm upto. What sort of socket do i need for the funny fitting on the head bolts?
the second one is a pic of the rocker assembly i pulled out sitting upsidedown. you can see on the right the little gold cap things sitting on the little ball things you can see on the left. i found them just chilln around in the head. thanks

Re: weird little valve things
Fixed
Funnily enough, all you need to undo the head bolts is a 10mm socket
Admittedly, it has to be a multifit socket (ie 12 faced socket, as opposed to 6 sided direct fit socket)
Dunno what the other bits are
cant even find them in the parts database... closest I can find is the adjuster nut.

yeah they're a bit strange it looks like there supposed to go there but they fall off too easy. i pulled it all down because there was this rattley death-like sound it could have been them rattling around i dunno. but now i know you dont need some crazy tool to get those bolts off i'll venture into the next layer and have a look. thanks

Thats what I thought of as well, are they the lash adjusters complete with fabled plastic ends which all seem to go brittle and fall off?Bennoz wrote:Fixed![]()

While you are ripping through the parts catalogue Ben, do you have a number for the hydraulic tappets which control the MIVEC? I've not got round to installing the AMA yet and CAPS doesn't go to quite that detail.

Re: weird little valve things
its the fkn tappet screws you muppets!!!
WTF!
obviously you have a GPX with adjustable tappets
the plastic things you found floating around were the top of your tappet screws, you have to buy them individually, they cost about $20 each from mitsi, the nylon/white bits break all the time.
dont re-assemble it without replacing them...

Re: weird little valve things
hey so are you saying that those little cap things are supposed to sit loosely on the tappets?
and i saw in your older thread they cant come off once there in so just make sure there on when you put it in, so.. why were 9/12 of mine just sitting in the head not on their tappets when i opened it up?

Re: weird little valve things
they are supposed to rotate on the ball bearing bit,
they are held on with little plastic fingers... they will stay on there when broken until you take the tappets off than they stick to the tappets and you think they've been off for ages... when you get the new ones you'll see how they work.
