Try flicking between fresh & recyled air coupleof times, it could be stuck foliage.

Otherwise it'll be the little servo motor in the system missing a few teeth.

my 'dash' used to 'click' periodically after i had shut the car off. never worried me but

Probably the cog that controls between inside and outside air, swap it to outside and see if it still does it

Yeah it comes on/off, sometimes starts clicking when I turn the CC off. Pretty loud but only goes for 30 seconds or so. I remember reading something about it a while ago...
Hmmm.
Air con belt needs replacing too.

Hmmm.

If it only goes for a short time like that, I would say it is a cog that is not turning properly ...
