Manual transmission casing needed
Hi all
I doubt anyone remembers me, but I've been around with my FTO since 1999. I haven't been active on the forums for a long time though. Anyway couple of weeks ago the internal pinion mounting on my manual transmission casing cracked. So now I'm in the hunt for a new casing ...
Details
Car: 1995 Manual FTO GPX (MIVEC)
Location: South Australia (but happy to hear from anyone local or interstate)
Needed: Manual Transmission Casing (but happy to hear from people with complete manual gearboxes as well)
Regards
Luca

Luca! Good lord, thats a blast from the past
As it just so happens, you're in luck. I've got a complete manual box case spare sitting in my roof (I blow up a lot of gearboxes
)
I should be able to ship it relatively easily. Its not heavy, just a little bulky.

Re: Manual transmission casing needed
Hi guys & thanks for the reply.
How you guys going?
Thanks for the info. RPW say they have a complete gearbox in excellent condition and are happy to ship to SA. Could be worth getting a complete set of spares... But I haven't bought anything from them in a looong time thought so I don't know if they are still reputable, my recollection is they used to be pretty good, any thoughts?
Hey Bennoz, what is the condition of your spare casing (what sort of mileage has it done and what sort of life has it had) and how much would you want for it ... I'd pay shipping on top of course?
Cheers

Youll pay top dollar for it from RPW. Throw up the asking price and we cal let you know whether its a good price or not.

Re: Manual transmission casing needed
Thats actually not too bad...
Im just thinking too that my case is actually a GR case. From memory it has a slightly smaller housing around the diff & to fit a GPX diff in, you need to machine a section out.

Re: Manual transmission casing needed
Oh ok ... no worries.
Yeah it seemed like is was a reasonable price. They've said it is excellent condition ... but I'm guessing my interpretation of excellent will be a little higher than theirs.
Anyway thanks guys, you've been great help
