idle problems

Post by scott.jem »

Hi guys i have had a bit of an idle problem for about 3 months now and I’m out of ideas
so i will start the car and it will idle fine and 800-900rpm i drive around of a minute or two come to a set of lights and it will idle at 200rpm once it went down to 0 lol however it never stalls and when i take off from the lights there is no jerking or anything and takes off fine.

I have changed

Spark plugs
Fuel filter
Cleaned injectors
Cleaned stepper motor
Adjusted the accelerator cable
Reset the ecu

Had a diagnostic done and came up with no codes so I’m stumped if anyone knows anything else it could be that would be awesome. :D

Yeah, I'd be replacing the stepper.... or at least borrowing a known working one to check it.

The first day I got my fto it was stalling. So dad amped up the idle. Sounds like the rev is to high. But drove fine. Today the car was revving up and down continuesly. Sounds messed up. Got any ideas?

I got a service done. He said he screwed the idle down and that it was working fine. So I jumped in started her up and she kept dying. So he had to put idle back up a tad. I told him it was prob stepper motor and he looked at me like I was an idiot. Which I kinda am. When he first looked at it he said oh it's a Mitsubishi Thingy. I told him it was a fto he wrote down gto. I think I will have to go to syd to get a professional to look at it.

Mate most mechanics have no idea what this car is. Take it to meek or mrt performance :) both know all about mitsus, I found mrt performance knew more about the Fto than meek..

We got heaps of mechanics here. All they seem interested in are fixing holdens or fords.

What is there to know about the Fto? Know a Mitsubishi v6 you know an Fto. All mitsubishis suffer from the same problems.

Plus any mechanic that says they can't work on them cause they're a weird import, is clearly makiing excuses because he is too busy with the Falcadores that pays his rent.

They are just another Jap car. No different to a bloody Toyota Corolla.
