I bought it new (not remanufactured or reconditioned but properly new) in December 09, probably has around 10,000 km on it. The only reason that I have removed it is due to my Mivec conversion.
It has an under driven pulley on it, meaning it is less of a load (resulting in more power going to the wheels) but as a result, it produces less power at low rpm. I never had any problems with it, even with my big sub cranked but if you don't like the idea of an under driven pulley, you can use the pulley from your existing alternator. Just make a decision before installing it as they are a pain to swap out.

Hey Paya, where abouts can you get the exchange units from? Might try install a new alternator next weekend.
It's on it's way out. Half the time when I brake it flashes my headlights. Also when I slow down (not using the brakes) after some rapid speed it flashes.
Make sure you get a good warranty with the exchange unit. An exchange unit is just an old alternator which has been reconditioned. I had an old unit reconditioned once and only got around 6 months out of it.
Make sure that the reconditioned unit has had the regulator and rectifier (electrical) as well as the bushes and bearings (mechanical) replaced. If they haven't replaced both the regulator and the rectifier, don't expect too long out of it.
