HELP! - Pulling apart rear strut

Trying to pull apart rear strut to test the new lovells I got but I am unable to get the top bolt off, it just keeps spinning everything!

Any tips, helpful guides anything??

You're binning the old shocks yeah? Lock plyers or multigrips.

Hmm don't have any of them I don't think...

Yeh I'm binning the old ones, but need the whole top assembly.

Still can't crack the buggers.
I'm heading to lovells now so I'll see if I can convince them to crack them for me

mini tube spanner and torx bit.
That's how all of mine have been.

But yeah, they're a PITA to crack initially.
Ended up angle griding the nut off on the shocks in the old sedan.

I just take my springs to pedders when i want to get them changed, it costs $60 and you just hand over the struts and springs already out of the car. Takes em like half hour.

Go home put them in. Win.

Even offer them cash, and they'll do it for like $30, worked for me once.

Everybody needs lunch money.

I'm on the lookout for a workshop grade, foot pedal operated, hydraulic spring compressor.

Hmm, and I also have a trust issue with 2nd hand hydraulic gear... it'll probably need a seal kit put through it.

Maybe worth spending the other $200 on a new unit!
