topgun, I think am gonna pm you soon asking for some prices.
Can we modify some of the designs? Like different colour for the 'FTO' texts, no text in Gear Surround, different design than the dots for the pedals, etc?
Also, has anybody tried metal shift plate mods?
Something similar to this:
Would be a little hard...to find out the exact movement grid of the lever.
And I am happy to overlook the irritating and slow gear shifts for the pleasure of that 'clank' noise when the shifter slots in and hits against the plate's metal

Yeah fire away whenever you like
Not tried to do a metal shift plate no, although could have a go?
then figure out how to mount a metal plate to the centre console, the testing it, then producing a good enough plate for copying/moulding etc it is quite a big job as its not a one off

Well put Taz mate, I agree completely. I think it would be difficult
The biggest issue would be trying to mount the plate. As the stock boot just simply screws in its not that simple for a heavier metal plate with no give. You would almost have to change/modify your centre console to accomodate, which would in turn raise costs / probably deter a lot of interested people. Dont get me wrong it would be awesome, and i would get one just to see how it goes etc but it just seems to impractical for the effort involved, unless you can find away around this.
Maybe if you can make a bracket that fits under the centre console that supports it alone and doesnt interfere with anything else? In any case, if your undertaking it, good luck and keep us posted maybe our collected brains can figure out a way around this
Btw, i can take pics of the things i have from you if you still have em for sale - quite proud of my interior FTO badges if you still have them. Fuse box cover etc

Yeah will have to get those brain cogs turning. Someone would have to be a guinea pig too!
Am in for being the guinea pig.
I know another forum did this mod for their car... there was a lot of measurements and testing involved to make sure the plate's slots have enough room for the shifter to move around. This though can also be achieved if we modify the shifter handle itself..along the lines of the pic posted by Technikaus.
Not an easy job...but lets start poking our grey matters to find out how tough/economical this mod is...shall we
I will have a look around my center console and shifter tomorrow to see if there is any room for any kind of work around our technical challenges.
