South Australian LAW for engine mods

Post by okamitengu »

alright, i need the collective might of everyone..

im trying to find out about law here in south australia.

im interested in upgrading from the 2.0 ltr mivec to a 3ltr mivec 6g72 motor

anyone know if this is legal down here? im going to ring regency to be sure but that might take me a few days to get around to. (:

so in the meantime, i hereby open this up to informed opinion, and crazy speculation ...

have at it! :pirat:

Knowing our laws, no, no and no f**king no to anything haha. SA is the worst in terms of regulations and laws on vehicle modifications...

But ring regency, if they give you the screw around let me know and i'll ask my contact who's a Transport SA safety inspector (same guy who get's to pull apart our cars if they are deemed illegal....) ;)

Even if it wasnt the wrong way around he would never get it complied as its more than the 20% limit (which apparently is 2.5L)

Yea, in UK it's legal, here it isn't. I just recently had a English backpackers stay with me and the stuff he's done to his Starlet, and its still street legal i'm like WTF..

I reckon you could pull it off, but there would be a LOT of regulations you would have to abide by. An engineer's certificate, for instance...I think it can be done, but at what cost are you willing to achieve this? THAT is the question..!

That's QLD & NSW law ;) Hence he's asking. I have a feeling it will be similar down there, but would like to see official regs myself..

If it fits in a Mirage, it'll fit in an FTO... dodgy Russians

I'll try find the pics of the UK one.
