Things I did today:-
Changed front pads and full service on the 121 bubble, full degrees of the engine bay ( looking for an oil leak )
Also got a air ratchet and impact wrench

That reminds me, while it isn't my personal project I am currently working with a team on a race buggy. The name: Swamp Donkey.



31" Front tyres, 35" Rears. Magna 3.5L V6 motor with 4spd auto and one of the CV's welded in. 60 Series landcruiser rear diff with 3.7:1 ratio (welded centre), NL Pajero rear axle with '86 Hilux steering knuckles welded on. 14" Air-shocks, 4-point harnesses, and a Range-Rover steering rack

We've been rushing around getting it ready for a comp over the october long weekend, so that's what work I've been doing lately

Went and visited an FTO down the road being broken
Got a new upper console, with aircon controls and vents etc, because mine has a very small scratch that was annoying me :p
I also got a new rear passenger plastic panel thing, as mine has a decent hole in it
Also for Nick's FTO we picked up an IFS, and some genuine floor mats
all for $100.
still looots left on that car too, all that had been taken was those things and the gear surround, which was perfect
the car was a 95 GR with 60,000KMs on it

Do yourself a favour and buy a hydraulic jack and some axle stands. NEVER go under a vehicle that is only supported by a jack.

Sounds like you are a very lucky. Don't bother getting another one get a good 1500kg jack a lot safer.

Actually astron, troll aside, yes - part of it would of been the fact he used an FTO jack. FTO jack - designed for the weight of an FTO, which is a good 400kg lighter than the supra....
Still f**king stupid if you ask me, the most basic and obvious safety rule of working on a car completely ignored - what a stupid way to die.

Still, you should always use stands as you also run the risk of damaging the car if the jack fails.

Arm crushed = not 'nearly dying'. You said you nearly died which means of courde we assumed you were under the car.
Also, they aren't nearly the same jack. Might any roughly same size and shape but one is rated for a much higher weight, why risk your car and your arm over a few dollars?
