WTB VIC - Manual Gearbox +other stuff for manual conversion

Post by HeRo »

Hey guys,

I am really wanting to get a manual box and everything needed for a manual conversion. I'm sick of the tip, and plus I hear stickshift will add a whopping 10kw atw (which makes the tip box seem insanely stupid).

If you guys happen to have one in VIC or can send it down here (at my cost of course) that'd be sweeet as.

Its going in a GPvR, though I hear the only difference between the GPX and GPvR is the LSD?

Any help appreciated!

Yup, 5 speed tips.

As for differences with GPX/GPvR, I assume you mean mechanically in which case yes, just the LSD from what I know. LSD was also an optional extra for GPXs (and other cars I think?) but theyre rare and if its pre-facelift then its a different type of LSD compared to a facelift/vR

Still dont know why someone would buy a 70 thousand dollar sports car back when it was THE sh*t and didnt opt for an optional LSD - seems kind of stupid doesnt it?
If i ever buy a factory car i would opt for as many things as i could afford or think suitable - they only go up in value..

Last i heard yea, about that off the showroom floor.
Im sure in 1994 when the only real fast cars were turbo, a 200bhp FWD that handles better than most, with sh*t like climate control, electric everything (i still havent seen any modern car to date with an auto up function on the drivers window(although i suspect merc's and high end beemers etc would have it))
Even 18 years on a fairly tired manual GPX will beat a lot of sh*t on the roads and 90% of p plate legal cars, including commodores with almost double the displacement.
Thats my argument for the price tag anyway, i would of paid that back in the day if i had it

Mine is an aftermarket window opener/closer. Wires into my alarm. I can also roll my windows up and down with the remote.

Only the driver side window is auto on the FTO

Yeah thats true. I can kinda see why they'd be like $50,000 ish back in the day, but $70,000 seems like a lot 8O

Does anyone have the actual price?

Whoa 70k for an fto. Holy sh*t. Would that mean teggy's were around the same price cos that was the competing car right?

And yeah i have an alarm/immobiliser that winds both windows up when you lock it, it's boss as.

And nah it's a 4spd tip gpvr with the facelift and lsd. Weird, rate but not in the good way model of this car.

...so nobody got the manual stuff for me? I'll pay in Australian dollars!

Yeah I couldve sworn all Facelift models were 5 speed..

Edit: Although it could be similar to how some early facelift models had the old glue

Haven't checked chassis match up but it has everything a vr would have i.e blue buckets, hks filter, manual thermostat...not to mention lsd. Seems a lot of work to make it replica.

I did read somewhere that the 96' vr came in 4spd and in 97 they all became 5spd.

This whole thing has led me to want a manual gearbox.

After that a custom y pipe, ecu and tune would be sweet as.

All vRs are 97 onwards...

Does it have electronic climate control and or folding mirrors?
