The previous owner was lazy and used the blue liquid gasket on my rocker covers.

Lasted 20,000kms.

He tried to convince me FTO's had "liquid gaskets" and no rubber ones were available. I smiled and said nothing
But did he put the sealant onto the old rubber gaskets or just used the sealant with no gasket? If it was the latter, I can understand why it only lasted 20,000kms.

Yeah, it's just the blue stuff, no rubber gasket.

I'll be changing them soon though, only a minor leak on the right side.

Silver FTO needed a new alternator, so changed that over. While doing this, noticed a shredded CV boot and broken sway bar. Ended up having to do these as well. Hate changing alternator and sway bars. Both a bugger of a job. Anyway, car running well now. Pretty much ready for a blue slip and then on the market...

How the hell does one "break" a swaybar? Droplinks, I can understand, but the actual bar?...

I broke one on my blue FTO as well. Didnt hit anything prior to it breaking. Im guessing there is a bit of a design flaw there somewhere. Maybe the width just cant take the constant pressure and slowly develops hairline fractures.

Happens when the bushes wear, snaps right on the pivot point. I've swapped a few out that have had that happen.

Ouch. Good thing my car is on the hoist at least once a week

Today, I gave the Triton a long-overdue wash. Last time was the Sydney 4WD Adventure show, so it's been a while.

Got underneath with the karcher and sprayed all the mud off the underside. Also cleaned the mud off the wheels, hopefully getting rid of my 110km/h wobbles

Went in for my warrant of fitness, unsurprisingly failed on tyres
So off for new cheapo tyres tomorrow... $500 or all four fitted and balanced.
They will do until I buy new rims and tyres for them :)

I think the leak wasnt even from a sh*tty old gasket, I think it was just the fact that the bolts were incredibly loose. Nevertheless, I used a f**k tonne of the blue gasket sealant stuff on it.. no more leaks
