Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper
What about Taz?
What's the actual issue with the caliper?
Jammed handbrake lever, piston seal stuffed...?
doesn't use his brakes now as it cost him a rotor, caliper and set of pads last time.

Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper

a) Sahin doesnt drink beer
b) its not a case of strength to get it off, the locknuts are fucked, as well as being the softest metal ive ever seen. A specialist reverse tapered emergency locknut remover was useless and did nothing on it

Only real option left is to weld a socket on there - got the spare socket, just waiting for an ALDI special welder

And Taz! I got one of those locknuts off with a f**king socket bashed on and a 1/2 drive socket wrench with no breaker bar of any kind and no WD lol if you didn't strip the nuts so bad with your locknuts removal tool I could have gotten them off for you! Lmao

I tried everything mate, dead set. You even came round when me and wagonist tried drilling that hub out. You got lucky on one of them...

Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper
The piston seal was completely shot, as well as the piston boot. I managed to get the snapped off bolt out, sanded the rust off the piston and now I just have to go down to auto spares for replacementsAstron_Boy wrote:What about Taz?

Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper
Is this leading to the OP getting his caliper, or do you 2 want a room with a lock nut set?

Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper
Just a long, thick breaker bar should be plenty for themAstron_Boy wrote:Is this leading to the OP getting his caliper, or do you 2 want a room with a lock nut set?

Re: WTB: Rear left brake caliper
Again, ill state its not a matter of simply hulking it off. The metal is too soft and the "locking" part of it is simply a few small semi circle ridges, to which nothing can grip. I have tried a specialist removal tool and all it did was shear off a nice spiral piece of metal off the locknut...Daniel2019 wrote:Just a long, thick breaker bar should be plenty for themAstron_Boy wrote:Is this leading to the OP getting his caliper, or do you 2 want a room with a lock nut set?
Ill gladly bet anyone $100 they cannot simply remove them without resorting to something like welding a socket on...any takers?

I think he meant putting the breaker bar somewhere near your butt?Taz wrote:Again, ill state its not a matter of simply hulking it off.
