Hello,
I own a 98 GX which had an Engine problem and had to replace the engine. The new engine is of a GR.
From the day I got it back the engine light is constantly on while driving. I extracted the diagnostics code from car and the following errors appeared:
12- Air Flow Sensor
13- Intake air temperature sensor
22- Crank angle sensor
23- Camshaft position sensor
Lately when i to start the car it sounds like it is turning but takes 3-4 times and then the engine starts up.
The MAF sensor i guess is shot as it doesn't matter if the plug is connected on it or not, something that was happening before changing the engine. Surely i don't want to spend like 400-500 euros for a new one. Is there another method to bypass it or one from another car that fits? Or use an older from a GR?

How was the engine conversion done? I take it all conversion parts (such as the GR ECU) were fitted?

Nope. everything remained as it was. The only thing changed with the actual engine. Nothing more. ECU, wiring harness and most of the sensors were the ones that were on the GX engine.-Nighthawk- wrote:How was the engine conversion done? Ahh misread your post, thought it said GPX not GX. Who did the engine conversion for you?

It was a long story. I took it to a mechanic who without notifying me removed the engine gearbox and a lot of other things from the car, but he could not locate a new engine.-Nighthawk- wrote:Ahh misread your post, thought it said GPX not GX. Who did the engine conversion for you?
I then took the car off there with some of the parts, and the engine dismantled and took it to a guy who used to import half cuts and fix FTOs and managed to find an engine to replace it with. We knew about the problem with the engine light but he could not find anything wrong with the car.

Do you still have the ECU from the original half cut to test with?

Nope. The engine was bought alone. You think it may be a problem with the ECU itself?-Nighthawk- wrote:Do you still have the ECU from the original half cut to test with?
