Fuel filler door (piece of metal that hides the fuel cap)

Post by JAMZO_wamZo »

Anyone had any issues with their door just breaking? I pulled the fuel leaver today at the servo to fill up and the door just fell off once I pulled the handle.

I stuffed around for 10mins trying to find a way to put it back on and fix it but gave up went in paid for my fuel bought some silver tape and just taped the stupid thing on, and it makes me cry every time I see it all boganend up.

I'll post some pics tomorrow arvo, but if anyone's had the same drama and has some tips would be wonderful!

Cheers

I would say that either the hinge pin has fallen out, broken or the two bolts have fallen out.

your in Brisbane so I would say a call to Alljap at Virginia they may have 1

if not I'm sure Dstocks has 1

It should be a reasonably cheap and easy thing to fix.

Aight, little feedback from what i did today, took the hinge thingy off and looks like the Door and the hinge have rusted apart, ive managed to get it back in and sitting solid without using any sticky tape but soon as i tug on the release latch it just flies off

I forgot to take pics this arvo :x but there's 2 little what looks to be "clips" and they've obviously slowly rusted and gotten brittle from opening and closing over time.

also, that thing i described as a "Z" clip is actually used in the closing mechanism when its closed the door pushes on it and helps hold it in place. (judging just by looking at it)

bit of a weird door system, probably meant for anti theft?

If the clip you are talking about sits closer towards the hinge side, it is just a spring. Meant to aid in popping the door open when the lever is pulled.

Without it the door would just stay closed when you pull the lever.

You dont need to. Just bend it out a bit.It gets compressed over time.
