Harmonic balancer

Post by Chebus »

Ok so ive taken the engine mount off, the 2 cam covers and the tensioner pulley for the alternator. Next step is to remove the harmonic balancer, but im a noob at all this so need advice on how to remove it. How can i stop it rotating the crank when i turn the nut? Any bogan ways to jam it?

cheers guys.

Some use an impact gun...
My gun wouldn't crack mine so I had to put a breaker bar on the nut and let the other end of the breaker bar rest on the driveway towards the front of the car, unplug the fuel pump wiring or crank sensor wiring (so the engine can't start), and turn the engine over for a instant, the engine turning over cracked the nut for me.

If you try this method I hold no responsability for the outcome, but it worked for me.

May have to jiggle it a bit.

Provided you have removed everything obstructing what you want to get to.
It should just slide right off.
