Front Bumper Bar Suggestions

Hey guys, some dude reversed into my front bar, the damage isn't major but the front bar is now slightly bent and bent downwards, so the gap between the bonnet and the bar is like 1.5cm, and on one of the sides near the headlight it also sticks out. I believe the frame is slightly bent of the front bar, and I will have to get a new one probably.

I have booked in for a quote on the 11th

What I want to know, I'm thinking instead of getting the genuine front get another type, but the MAIN problem is i don't want the car to look crap because i have diffrent front but the rest is stock...

Does anyone have like an aftermarket front and the rest stock, I don't want veilside btw...

I kinda like these two but i don't want it to look weird:





What are my options, I want something that can be easily obtainable from Canberra, oh and i don't like the side skirts on the white car. Has anyone got any pictures?

Both of those are stock bars with a lip added. The lip is sold seperately to the bumper, so you would need both.

hey mate i got reversed into too
i asked for a quote to have the front bar fixed is like only 120 but the bumper support cost up to 500 as there is 3 piece + labour
if u dont like veilside, u dont have any other options as all oher parts available in australia is onlyu adding a lip unless your rich like mikey and make your own front
or u can change to the facelift bumpers for like 1k incl lights

Untrue if someone can tell me how to host pics for nothing, I just had a new front fitted and the rest of the car is stock including wheels.

When I look at this product, I get the impression that it comes with the front bumper bar, because it's like that in the picture.

For the Lip One, I'm pretty sure it's $495 just for that piece. Reason being the front bumper itself is priced at $650 alone. I doubt they'll give you that much discount for buying 2 bits together. I guess they just want to show off how the lip looks when it's attached to the bumper.

As for the T-Style (which I think is a Topmix copy), it's probably the same deal., $550 just for the lip. It's $195 UKP (Funky Products), so the price seems about right.

The dude that hit you should pay up though.

But finding a bumper is the easy part. It's when you have to replace the frame pieces, that's when the hassle comes in, as fto617 said.

From memory it cost 450 for the bumper and another 150 to have the centre removed and smoothed over pretty much ready to paint. I got it from DMD motorsport in Brisbane.

It's a copy of course.

The rest of it was covered under an insurance claim so not really sure.

I was saying in another forum that I got reversed into by someone.. It looks exactly as Boris described at the beggining of this thread!

Now im looking for a new front bar too, rather than getting them to fix the existing one. Boris what did you end up getting and how much did you end up paying for it?

Im not sure if I want anything that sits too low because it'll be a hassle getting in and out of my driveway... should i just try n get the stock vR type of bar? how would it look with veilside skirts? can anyone advise?

The Version R front is no different to other FTO's. I assume you're referring to the facelift front bar with the round indicator/foglights. If so, if you have a pre-facelift car you will have problems with park lights - the facelift bar has none whereas the pre-facelift one does.

Just double check though that if you are having to put a facelift front bar on a non-facelift FTO, you may require to modify the frame/brackets behind the front bar to fit.

Ask GAV, he's done the facelift conversion so he would have an idea about this.

I'm also gonna check out a few other front bars but I despise the veilside front bars because they are so popular. Does anyone know what brands we're stocking here in sydney other than the veilside ones?

Sounds like a plan.

UAS sells the facelift front bumper (a copy) as well. But if you pay a little bit more, you can get the real deal from Mitsubishi. And if insurance is paying for it, I couldn't think of a reason why you wouldn't get the OEM one.

As for lights in the front bumper, you would need signal lights at the minimum (check out www.justjap.com). And fog lights (which are optional I guess).

The facelift and Veilside are the easiest to obtain in Sydney. If you would like to be different, then the far-east is where you should start looking - plenty of options there...albeit more costly!
