Grey primer, silver, then clear coat each a day or so apart. Was just another bad mix up. I've picked out a bright silver to paint the whole car. Bought a compressor and gravity guns and primer. Just waiting until I can afford 4l of silver and 4l clear then I'll have a go at painting the whole car.Technikhaus wrote:Are you using 2 part colour/clear for painting the panels?
Or are you using one of those all-in-one mixes?

Nice, good luck with the respray, hopefully it will be one colour....
I just picked up some paint, and some clear. May give a go at painting my new side skirts...

Re: destinationtoby's GPX
Respray has begun
Costs:
Compressor $180
Air hose $40
Two gravity fed guns $160
Sandpaper,tape etc $30
4L of Protec spf60 acrylic primer $200
4L of protec L41 silver (brightest most vibrant I could get) $400
10L of Thinners $100
Protec Acrylic clear coat - still to be purchased.
And need to buy a couple more tarps to make a booth sorta thing
May be needing a larger compressor but will see how the silver goes on first.
Pretty happy with the cost as the paint is of the best quality available, protec who now owns ppg aswell.
Having a couple o practice goes on the bonnet before I start on the car.. Fingers crossed I don't f**k it up as much as you guys are expecting me too
but at least I know the whole car will be one color, for a while anyway :/

Re: destinationtoby's GPX
Compressor I bought was way too small. And just sh*t. So I got a much better one today
I've used nearly half the tin of primer on the front bar, boot,& bonnet.bit worried I'm going to run out of paint whilst doing the rest of the car?
Also wondering should I take the doors off to do this? Are they easy to put back on ??
Hoping to have the car completely primed and sanded next weekend. Then paint the weekend after.

Re: destinationtoby's GPX
Remember to paint the parts as they lay on the car. If you don't gravity can affect the colour, and it will be missmatched ..
I just had to add it ......
