just stumbled across this today, it highlights the increase in demerit points that are now in effect,
things that caught my attention were "Other three-point offences include conduct associated with street racing and failure to stop and supply particulars after a crash. One-point offences include tailgating and driving without headlights on at night." i think i've done enough to lose my licence about 4or5 times under this new system!
I just don't get how they target people tailgate, but don't look into people who are doing 10km less then the speed limit, it is also 1 demerit point, & $75 fines for those who break this law, but it seem to me no law enforcement are actually enforcing it.
In my opinion, these slow idiots are the one to blame for 90% of tailgate, 90% road rages & 20% of speeding. As the person behind them get agro, he/she will start to tailgate, & if the person still didn’t get the idea of "blocking the traffic" it will escalate to "sign language", "offensive language", excessive of horn, & high beam (road rage), & finally result of over taking with any mean, (speeding & endanger others)

lower fines in exchange for higher demerit points? i can live with that... (at least it doesn't send me broke - it's hard enough to get by financially these days with exorbitant petrol prices as is!)

for your sake, i hope u have plenty of spare points to exchange with then!
i know if i was sitting on 1 last point, i'd rather pay double than lose my licence and go back to public transport.
Not that many would care, but how f***ed up is this gunna be for P platers?
3 points for 5 over the limit. do that twice, which everyoine can vouch for is easy and there goes your license, or even worse during double demit points you can lose it for one minor infraction. Thats just friggin stupid
i still have full demerit points on my licence (that's in all my 8 years of driving) so i suppose i don't really know how to appreciate what it's like to lose licence demerit points lol...
I haven't lost any points yet either although i've only been driving for a year and a half, but it seems to be a bit much, stray a few k's over the limit which is inevitable unless you watch your speedo All the time and lose a nice chunck of it!
I have recently been caught by these laws and think it's a disgrace to know how easy they can get you on speeding ... fair enough if your intentionally speeding I agree with it but when your unsure of the speed limits of an area as I was in Richmond of which I hardly go through it can trap you easy !
I went through 3 different speed limits within a one kilometer stretch of road and ended up with a $205 fine and 3 points .....
Hey Mikey & Ethan, i think its time for us to visit Mil & give him the "stick shift"
