Went to "the tyre factory" today to check out the rims that they have on offer. After walking around, armed with some info that I gathered from the forums, ive discovered some rims are very similar to some leading Japanese brand wheels
EG:
Gmax = Volk racing
Data Champ = Work Emotion
Hp Design/Star corp etc etc
As im looking for 17's on my ride, i went around an lifted each wheel to see how heavy they were, and it somewhat scared the crap out of me.
What i noticed was some wheels wer hella heavy as compared to some others, noticeably, heavy ones were ROH and ANZ wheels
So heres my Question (after all that )
"What brands would you guys suggest?" and where might I source these?
I know tempetyres can deliver, as well as ozy tyres.
** Lets just say the budget range is 2k max (with tyres?) **
Just wanna be a little bit more informed before i fork out the $$ (srys for long thread)
Gmax = Volk racing
Data Champ = Work Emotion
Hp Design/Star corp etc etc
I assume when you said that, you mean by the look, as the weight are huge different, especially GMax Vs Volk Racing.
Anyway with $2k budget, I would get the Data Champ, as they are the lightest within that price range, & certainly one of the best looking, since they look similar the the Work Emotion CR, which were use on the Taeivon FTO
Also Data Champ parents company have the sole rights to produce Work's wheels in Taiwan, so the quality should be better then most of those cheap Taiwan/China made rims

Well yes, but lots of good brand don't offer online or sell direct to pubilc. or worst some non-retailers are more then retail shop.

by somne good sh*t, liek u cwanna get goodyear eagels, or high quality michelin or another good brand, done get silverstone! silvertaons are teh crappers and u will crash uyr car in the wet caus ehtey are ths sucks!s;p ahhae
bughetxs for tyres first then spend the remeianding money on rims.
Maybe they had improve since i had them, but i had Good Year Eagle & other models. I had nother but bad experience in wet with them, & also they bubble after 1-2mths.
Keep in mine that was 15" and 16" size, every brand/model will perform differently according different sizes.

I've got G3DS' (or is it GSD3) on the front, I absolutely love them. People keep looking at them and saying that because they have no vertical running channels they must grip poorly in the wet but I have to very much disagree. Cat like grip! Too pricey though at the size I got them.
Steer well clear of any cheap brand "performance" style rubber!
yeah my friend bought shi* tyres on his car and got rid of them straight away bcoz they dont handle like good tyres and when he was driving in the wet he reckons they dont stick to the road at all...lik a car on ice:(
so make sure you buy good tyres man bcoz we dont want to see an FTO around a tree!!!
Ok I manage to find my May Issue of wheels which they did a mega test on 16" & 17" tyres, I did a quick chart, so I hope these info will help you & other to decide.
As you can see, higher price doesn't mean better tyres, for 16" i would say BF Goodrich Sport T/A is the choice for me, & for 17" the Maxxis Victra MA-21.

yeah MEL i had the same problem when i was trying to buy my mags...because my car is on defect i had to make sure i got the right width tyres!!!
i rung RAA, mitsubishi, RAA service dealer and even tyre places in adelaide and they didnt know what width i was allowed...i rung the police and all they could give me was that it aint allowed to hang out of the guards..
so instead of taking the chances with the 8inch i just went the 7.5inch and i was also not on this site when i ordered them so maybe one of these guys can tell you!!!
umm my own questioon now???
what tyres do you reckon would be best for my new 18 inch rims because im going to ring jack bakerts tyres up tommorow and ask for the tyres i want...so can someone please tell me the tyres i should put on my 18inch unknowns please???
