I recently bought a set of 2nd have Mitsi GTO/3000GT/Dodge Stealth non-turbo 210cc injectors/fuel rail in the hope of replacing the puny 166cc fto injectors, unfortunately they don't even come close to fitting
Does anyone know of any larger injectors that do fit?
Places can modify standard injectors to up their flow.
Alternatively if you already have 6 injectors which you are happy with, it may pay to see how much modifying or custom making a new fuel rail would be?
GS is the 4G93 SOHC? If so then they have 210cc, same as magna, which I thought was the same as FTO.
The FTO fuel system is over designed to buggery. Unless your planning on forcing air in there the standard ones will cope. They are said to be only ever hitting 60% capacity a full throttle. Stock ones are 166cc
There's an intersting read in regard to Mitsubishi Fuel systems in the turbo article on the FTO Ireland site.
Nice....anything smaller though, thats a bit too large for my expected level of mods....almost 2.5 times the size currently.
Also would they use more fuel or still be restriced via a management system?
I was hoping the upgraded pump and regulator would squeeze an additional 10% or so from the standard injectors.
I've just read an interesting article about injectors saying that the flow can be increased quite a bit by raising the fuel pressure. You also get better fuel atomisation this way too.
If you got GTO injectors, which I assume are the same as Magna injectors (6G72) which are the same as the 4G93 SOHC injectors, which should be same size as 4G92 MIVEC injectors, and GSR injectors are slightly different but the same as 4G63 injectors...
So basically no Mitsubishi injectors fit? That can't be right?
buy useing a FPR or chnaging the flow/density wotever you need to up the air flow obviously...you are going to need to piggy-back the ECU to compensate as the stock ECU as mentioned before wont be able to handle the air/fuel ratios I assume. However i have never done it
Not neccesarily, the stock ECU will compensate for some air & fuel increases. Hence no-one has any ECU issues when the wack on a big CAI. There is some give in the OEM ECU, they have some intelligence
Having said that, having a piggy back or aftermarket ECU will allow for a much more finite tune with those mods in mind.
ya..I think so... Once you start wacking on over-sized injectors etc you might need a little extra help to ensure enough air is mixed..but I'm not sure how much the ECU can compensate...but it would make sense it could do a fair bit.
For normal small mods i wouldn't recommend changing the injectors at all,my 75bhp dry nitrous kit worked ok with the standard injectors (it didn't actually deliver 75 bhp though) The only reason you'd need bigger injectors would be for forced induction or some serious n/a tuning like throttle bodies, wild cams head work etc.
Like Ben said the standard fuel system is only running at 60% so in theory you should be able to squeeze 80bhp out of it (probably not in reality though)
The ecu is good at coping at fairly small adjustments too because it's designed to work at all different altitudes the car maybe driven at where the air density changes.
