i already looked at that a few weeks ago. the car yard either

a) has no idea
b) Knows its a "low model"...like gr...
c) theres something wrong with it

From what i've looked at so far, thats on the LOW end of average for a fto here in sa, from a dealer. Doubly so if its a gpx with s2 kit.

All they knew was its a "de3a" chassis. they told me flat out there's no such thing as different trim level's or engine codes for fto's. I said.....right...okay....thankyour for your time.

also, note the $16k tag in the photos. A lot of dodgy yards post a lower price on the net just to get you in and then go "oh, our mistake. oops".

I was thinking of going in anyway "off the street" for a test drive.

If you can tell me the whole chassis number I can tell you exactly what it is (or should be) including all options of trim, colour, g/box type etc...

You should recheck it, coz GPX is on the left and the GR's are on the right side. Plus the GPX should have the mivec cover.

not sure, i didn't know anything about fto's at the time. mine was manual with sunroof, which i know pushes up the price, plus i got it from a dealer which tends to mean its gonna be more expensive. im not to worried about it now though, it's probably gone now anyway.

Did you insure it as a GPX? If so the insurance company might try to pull a dodgy on you and say yours is only a GR and won't pay for the full write off.

Your chance are low, but it might happen. I certainly hope not. :?

i was getting a bit worried about that to actually, so i've got the contract of sale document ready so that i can show that i was not 'reasonably' aware that it was not a gpx. hopefully that will hold some weight.
why are so many people in the motor industry so dodgy? im getting really sick of people trying to pull the dodgy all the time...

Went in there today.
the car is a de2a GR with the 4g93 1.8 litre motor.
comp plate names it as a de3a.

Manual air con controls, etc. (contrary to advert)
Drives quite nicely, had a faint noise from the rear left bearing, i believe. Could have just been resonance.

bought 100,000 km's on it. dealer seems quite eager to get rid of it, i reckon they could be hassled down on the price quite a bit.
Exhaust a little rusty (only around your standard underbody chips that have hit the steel cat etc), new tip, might have headers on it (not sure what stockos look like on the fto).

On a side note, it was my first ever drive of an fto.
Yay! Even the povvo spec fto (hehe) handles crisper than my lancer. not sure how much i like the visibility yet though, and boy do the windows sit high. I like the fact the chairs can be wound up high for "arm on window crusing" and down low for sporty, ass on the floor work

oh yes, and they will ping you with a deposit for driving it, then try and keep it untill you agree to have the car inspected ($135). Be firm. I just politely repeated my wish to have my deposit back for 20 minutes untill they got tired of it.

actually, come to think of it, i think it was either manual steering, or the power steeering was on the way out.

But i'll stress again, the car drove wonderfully with no wierd squeaks or rattles, just a faint, vauge noise from the rear left and slightly heavier steering than i'm used to, but then again i've not driven an fto before.

no point pissing people off who may one day have another fto i'll be wanting.
