hey,

drove a honda before, and now driving fto..

just wondering a stupid question...

well, for those who has ignited a honda car before, you might notice that the time for ignition is soooo short, just maybe 1 second and two ignition sounds and the car starts.. but for other cars, including nissan, toyota, mitsubishi and all, they takes few seconds to start, and so many firing sounds of the sparks...

what makes honda cars so easy to be started?? i always think it is cool when i am igniting a honda cars...

what's the reason, anyone??

i've noticed that on nearly every make of car that exhibits this (Except of course, econoboxes, shithouse brands like hyundai etc) that a beefy battery, and upgraded power/ground cabling fixes that instantly.

just run some beefy 0awg to alternator>battery....battery>ground....and whatever to starter, and you'll find things ticking over faster. Generally.

hell, cable's not hard to pick up. theres always some fs at fast fours or CAA. Well, especially CAA, given most members there have used it for an amp install at some point and have some left over.

Hell, its not that expensive even from your local car audio store, or jaycar, etc etc.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ralliart-Lancer-Evo ... dZViewItem

i think that thing might improve starting... also suppost to improve audio and performance, duno for sure if its works or not though...... it has a ralliart badge on it so it looks legitimate :)

stabilisers are purest bullshit in car systems. Your alternator has one built into it, its called a regulator.

A fair few of those ebay kits are quite simply, grounding kits (ie, big cables) with a plastic box over one cable. LIterally. Open them up, theres nothing inside but silicone holding the plastic box onto the cable. Ahahaha.

Well I know my Merc start a lot faster then my VW and my ex FTO. I barely have to crank it and it will fire up.

The only one i can't tell is all those new button start car, they all start around the same to me.

The slowest starting car have to be a rotary though.

some ecu's need to learn where thier crank/cam position is before they know when to fire injectors/plugs. thats why they turn over for a while so the sensors locate exactly where the crank/cam is and then they know what injector and spark plug to fire.

I think my FTO is a dud hahahha.

People say they are beating XR6 non turbos fair enough, my mate has one, we boot it from lights, he is strait away at a 1.5 car length in front at about 40km/h. Theres nothing I can do about the crap FTO bottom end. With a manual maybe but I cant see an Auto keep up with something double its capacity at the start line???

At speed the FTO is good, but down low it has nothing???

I actually saw an FTO in Lalor Melb couple weeks ago, we dragged in my friends Gen 3 just to get an indication how quick another FTO is but couldnt because we were too far ahead.

Black FTO with double pipes in the middle bumper.

Me too mine starts up with a couple of turns from the starter motor. I knew that my car did start up a lot quicker when I had my new starter put in.

The reasons why some cars take longer to start than others, is electrical but also the physicall mass of engine. FTO with its tiny cylinders short stroke and mass, it gets going a lot quick. Go start a big V8 you notice how the starters are much slower, as there is so much mass to turn.
