Well, I went off that same test and believed the same thing till recently, even in Autosalon mag they had the test results and it showed HKS gave the most gain.
Then I heard / read mixed reviews, while searching for a new filter I found out it does a sh*t job as an actual filter.
When replacing mine very recently, I opted for the KNN one (they didn't have the mushroom HKS one anyway lol).

HKS one could be the one with the most gain, but it's also the worse filter out of all the ones tested.. so you get little bit more gain, but sh*t filtering.

That's what i've read about HKS too... Maybe one day I'll make a switch from my unifilter to K&N as I've been told that the unifilter also has a not so good filtering quality... Maybe that is the case with foam filters in general - maybe even regardless oiled or dry.

Back to this thread

Im going to get me a 4" pod.

Now is there going to be noticable gains and induction noise differences with the urethane top vs the cone top?

I know the cone top gives more opportunity for airflow but i think that there is also air turbulence that can affect it since the outside element and the cone top element are so close to each other but is it going to be better in the end ?

honestly who the f**k cares, just put any on goddddd. So many questions about podfilters.

I beat a P Plate supra last night with the stock airpipe and a cheap $20 podfilter slapped on the end not even in a box with no CAI or mounted down. It makes no difference.

Got a calibre 4" at supercheap. Good quality for the price.
HKS mushroom is more of weekender set up for me, the foam does tend to brittle. Noticed very fine foam particle on the inner layer after little over a few month used :?
PVC dunny pipe may not look pretty but effective, dissipate heat better than steel/aluminium.

Note: Not claiming to be a expert. Just one those geeky finds thru long drives 8)
