Throwout Bearing

Post by Cbrown1986 »

Howdy,

I think my throwout bearings have gone. When I have the clutch pedal in theres no noice but when the peddle is out and especially when slowing down, it makes this growling noice.

Has anyone had any experience in this... Do i get a new clutch kit at the same time?

Its a 95 GPX Manual Mivec..

Cheers

Certainly sounds like it. Do you get a rattley noise when at idle when in neutral?

Yeh i do, but not as bad. Heaps louder and more niticable when slowing down through the gears, but it's always there unless the clutch is in...

When it gets fixed, what else should I get done whilst the gearbox is out?

A standard clutch replacement should include:

New clutch plate
New pressure plate
New throw out bearing
Flywheel should be machined
Bleed of the system with new fluid used

Things you might want to look at with the box out:

A change of gearbox oil
Check gear selector linkages (lubricate if necessary)
Check Universal and CV joints for wear & or torn boots.

Yeah that sounds about right. I think for just a clutch job I paid about $700 (including the clutch kit itself)
