i-VTEC vs VVTL-i vs MIVEC

Post by Oliver89 »

I Think these systmes have very little effect on horsepower, they just allow manufacturers to tune the engines for higher horsepower without sacrificing low end torque and driviability and fuel economy. And VVTL-i equipped 2ZZs redline at 8 to 8500rpm Ive seen In My cousin's Car, which is pretty damn high. Which is why I am Glad Our FTO's Start Redlining After 8000rpm.

Though if you were an European Car Lover OR From Germany wouldnt you prefer infintely variable systems such as BMW and Porches systems.

( But i Guess you get what you pay for )

Guys what you reakon ?

What is the purpose of this discussion? Comparison's have been discussed so many times before.

The first sentence is an opinion so that's fine.

As to the purpose of the discussion, I'm a little lost as well =)

Looks like opinions are requested on the subject.

Regarding the first sentence, it depends on what you define as little. Of course, you're not going to get 100% gains in power from just a cam profile if all other inputs are the same. However, it does allow for higher power if you can specialise a cam for the higher RPM range, that's just common sense.

It's probably been discussed to death here, you could probably search the forums for past discussions.

All the technologies are pretty much, much of a muchness. If anything, MIVEC is old compared to the other two techs which are at least second revisions to their initial designs.

The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problem.
