Noises - New steering rack, and squeeking!

Post by benm7 »

Hey guys,

Just had my steering rack (reconditioned) and CV joints replaced. No cracking noise when full locking etc now, which is good!

However there now seems to be louder road noise than their was. it dies down when the car is slowing down and increases as it gets faster. Its hard to describe, but simply it sounds like an increase in air flow (sort of?!?!?).

I am guessing this is probably normal after getting these parts replaced, and will die down after it is run in a bit more, but just wanted to check. What you reckon?

Now I also get a really annoying squeeking noise coming from what seems to be a lower belt (alternator or aircon belt? Botom left of GPX engine). It was there before I got the steering rack replaced but was only really loud when aircon was on. But now it is very noisy even when it is off and unbearable when its on. It is also only noticable when idling, and it goes away with a few revs...

Thoughts.

Cheers, sorry for the long post!
