1995 HJ galant 6a12 power problems

i just bought a 1995 galant 6a12 (non mivec) and when it gets past 3000rpm
it revs but with barely any acceleration ...it has veritable length intake ..is that it?

If the engine is increasing in revs but the car is not increasing in speed the problem is likeely to be a slipping clutch.
Check for free travel at the clutch fork, if there is some the clutch is worn out, if you brought it from a car yard it may be covered by warranty

Turbo??? If so then that would be the clutch. As boost is kicking in around then (3krpm)
My std clutch dies at 3krpm at FOT.

If you lightly accelerate past 3,000rpm does it still do it? or is it only under FOT (Full Open Throttle)

its not turbo ..i'll check the clutch... already tried the air cleaner and the fuel filter

took the cat off and held it into the sun looks to be fine

put in jap spec ecu lots more power but there's still something wrong.. it goes alright with lite throttle but die's with full throttle

clutch is heavy and sometimes the gears are crunchy

As Oldie mentioned above, it sounds like your clutch is worn out. If you have trouble getting it into gear & it wont pull past 3000rpm, the I'd garountee thats what it is. Do you also get a funky burning smell when you try & get it to go past 3000rpm?

i got the ecu of "trademe" its like new zealand ebay cost $50

it fells like it could be the clutch
