Gearbox Oil

Post by JOeJOe »

I've search, there's not too much spoken about gearbox oils. I have a Tip, just wondering what other tip drivers are using.

Also, gearbox oil change, is it hard to do? DIY??

Castrol Syntrax ftw! Really good stuff once it warms up. Forget about cold starts into 2nd gear though :P

Look in the Oil Stickly thread. There is info there.

Dont use a gear oil in your Tip and dont use an Manual GB oil in your Tip. Although granted a gear oil will have more friction modifers which is what u need in your tip.

The manual spec SPIII rated ATF, never had any issues - at all. It has more friction modifiers than Dextron III and if its specified for it, then use it and dont f**k around.

At the very least use an ATF not a gear oil.
