Headlights not working...

Post by Delvance »

Hrmm...so i gave my car a nice wash tonight (nothing in the engine bay got wet). Had some dinner, then jumped in, started her and turned on the headlights.

Headlights go on, sorta fade, flash for a microbit and then go out, both of them...

I've checked the fuses and it seems fine. Tried swapping a couple of fuses around and the headlight one tests ok. I checked the bulbs and they had blown so i replaced one but still no light hrmm.

Any ideas on what might be the problem ?

I've ruled out fuses and bulbs, seeing as the other one i plugged in didn't work. Don't think it'd be the relay as the lights saw power for a bit. 8O :?
Edit: Oh yeah, parkers and high beams work.

Checked all fuses under bonnet and dash. All fine there =/.
I've got the projector housing that used to have the HIDs i think. It's a complete seal (with rubber gasket) when the 3 screws are fastened (they were). The connector plug is fine. I swapped in a working bulb but it didn't light.

Both the bulbs blew at the exact same time and both showed the exact same pre-death symptons lol. Only thing i haven't tried is the relay (don't have a spare one handy). Would one from another japanese same era car work (Toyota) ?

Beyond that, i don't know what to look for.

No, no hids. I'm pretty sure they were destroyed when the car was complied (kinda wish they didn't destroy it and left it in the car hehe). Something about them not complying to ADRs (i bought from an importer/dealer).

I bought some new bulbs yesterday and now it's fine. Hurrah. Might keep some spare bulbs in my car and some headlight tools for a week or two.

Cheers guys!
