just found out today that my chances of getting into the police force is veryy unlikely. after a yr of waiting to be taken into the academy, i think im going to cry
n ive just been told that if i want to reapply i have to start from the begining, its a 6 step process which takes around 6 mths so upset with myself i didn't do better int he first place
They really shouldn't be so stringent on requirements anymore.
There is not enough enforcement in Aus full stop.
And yet good people are being turned down.
1 friend and 1 acquanitence were also rejected from SPD, and yet, they are both highly qualified Bouncers, Night watch guard, and one even works for Sydney Rails as a watch guard now.
yeh the problem isnt the numbers its the funding.... i was told that my combined score wasnt competitve enough n thats the reason ive been waiting so long. im really sad, now if i get caught with the dvd player i bought off u i cant weasle my way out of it
Uniforms are pretty much the same as the cops, you can enter as an officer & then take a desk job / specialise in whatever you want, plus you get put through a Uni Degree & get paid a decent salary just to study.
Plus .. you live on base, so you meet a lot of cool people
My hat goes off to you, that it is a career you want... My old man was a cop for over 20 years, and by the end was hanging to get out ... Coming from a family that had members in Navy/Army and Police, my old man use to say that it was the only job that you have to put up with public hatred, and get shot at, and not get any support from the government .. Unlike Army etc.
So considering there are still decent people that want to join the force, it is good to see ...
I just had to add it ......

i was considering the AFP but u need to have completed at minimum a post graduate degree... n i really dont have the 'theory' kind of a brain, more practical... the biggest thing is that i have to start from the begining which others have told me is not the case, that u start from the physical test which at least is half way through.
im envious of ppl who have a 'career', all i do is sell phones n ive been putting up with it in hope that i will be going into the force, so now, i dont know what to do, i think im going to have to start looking for a more thrilling job n i really cant handle the stress of starting somewhere new n stuff... ah well.
i prolly will apply again, i really do want to go in, its just so-- inconvienient
I am all for wanting a career, but if I recall, you are pretty young yeah ... So just enjoy life for the moment...
I did trade jobs (chef, then spray painting) when I left school at year 10 .. Didn't fully complete either of them .. Oops .. Then just got a job temping doing office work ... Worked in the financial industry, just doing a level entry position investigating new accounts then grew with the company over 10 years ... Ended up lookin after the new accounts departments for 12 countries in the Japan Asia Pacific region ...
But yeah, just took it one step at a time, and let the company provide me with training and Development Planning ... Have now moved into Foreign Exchange, and have seen how much growth there is in this industry ...
I just had to add it ......

i am young (21) but ambitions are to own an investment property, travel, etc. n i dont want a personal loan, never had one n i dont want to get one until the investment property comes into effect.
i just want something i can be proud of... selling mobiles doesnt help
Feel for you thou, just had a mate try & get into the army for a specialist position & he was knocked back. 6 months of try all over again, he finally got in.
He was more p*ssed off that he couldn't smoke weed for a year due to random drug testing more than anything else
