'95 FTO GPX Manual Conversion

Post by Wilson »

Hey guys, I have a '95 FTO GPX tiptronic and i love it to pieces, however I wish to convert it to a manual. What sort of prices would I be looking at for all the parts needed for it?

Cheers, Wilson

Best option is to keep an eye out for a half cut going cheap, that guarantees u'll get all the parts you need, then sell off what you don't need. Will cost a bit more up front but will save you going back and forth for bits that weren't included...

Any ideas what sort of price I'd be looking at for that? It's actually a really good idea, as my engines getting pretty high in Km's so I actually wanted to replace it not too long after I convert to a manual.

There's one on eBay atm for a bit over $2K.

Normal price would be around $2-3K but sometimes u get lucky ;)

if you've got high kms maybe you would just be better off selling your fto and buying a manual one?

would save you a lot of hassle imo.

Yep, not for the faint hearted, it's a fair bit of work, both under the bonnet and inside the car. Just ask Lawso (cough, cough, Ben)

It is a veyr big job! Like shane said your best bet is to find a halfcut. It will have all the parts needed.

Dont try to source a gearbox as there are a lot of things that might not work. When I did mine I have big troubles with driveshafts not fitting so I opened up the gearbox and put a Cusco LSD in mine then had driveshafts made up.

Best best of luck
