Hi all,
Currently driving an auto GPX 95, car-sitting for a friend of mine.
I have been driving it with no probs over the past weeks, however today I parked the car and the key wont turn all the way back and I am not able to take the key out.
Looking from the side there are three/four levels of key turn with the first been the enter/withdraw key level - I cant turn it to this point.
The car is in park with the handbrake up, tried holding the foot brake but no success.
I drive a manual GPX so im not sure if im missing a step here.
Key stuck in ignition..?

Re: Key stuck in ignition..?
There are a couple of locking cables, 1 from the pedal, one from the gear shifter. Try moving through the gears with your foot on the brake & try jiggling the steering wheel as well.
Can you pat your head & rub your stomach a tthe same time?

Re: Key stuck in ignition..?
I had this issue at one stage. The immediate fix is to really push the selector up past P without depressing the button on the shifter while holding your foot on the brake pedal. It will eventually seat correctly and you can take the key out.
The easiest way to fix it long term is to remove the intended functionality. You want to remove the plastic around the steering wheel column and find the the steel cable that goes from the gear selector to the underneath of the ignition barrel. Remove the clip that holds the end of the cable in place. Check that you can now take the key out at any position of the shifter. Reassemble.
Alternately, I believe you can remove the 4 bolts holding the shifter assembly down and move it a few mm forwards or backwards to try and correct the issue.

Remove the plastic shroud from the bottom of the steering column (4 screws).
Remove the plastic covering around the ignition barrel. Some broken plastic peices should fall out, when they do you should be able to remove the key.
Reassemble.
