Revs keep dropping and cutting out - stepper?

I've only just got the car and it was fine when I picked it up but that's the only time i've driven it - well that and the test drive which was fine.
Tried it this morning and revs kept dropping and stalling, noticed the stepper was unplugged so I plugged it in and still the same, in fact maybe worse.

I've hooked up a wire for the diag port and run a test, no errors popping up just continous flashing when I earth number 1 pin.
So does it look like the stepper is knackered hence why it was unplugged and also i'm pretty sure there is some kind of bypass (which it was probably in) where you remove the stepper and wind it to mid position then put back but don't reconnect the data connector, is that right?
Also where can i get a stepper from quick?

Ive got a 2nd hand one sitting on the shelf in the garage if that is sufficient. I think new ones are around $150 (feel free to correct me if im wrong)

dstocks - how much for the stepper delivered and do you know if it was working ok previously?
