Wheel Knocking

Afternoon All
I have a problem with my FTO, When you turn right only turn the steering half a turn i get a clunk on the left wheel area but it is only going right.

I have replaced track Rods, track rod ends, Drop links, anti rollbar bushes. The CV joints have not leaked.
Also when i replaced the track rod ends the noise disapeared but then i had it tracked and the noise has returned.
Any ideas, Could it be the ball joints

Thanks Dan

Is it a click noise? Left cv will click when turning right.

Grab the outer housing and twist the shaft to see if there is any play in the joint.

The outer. Go find a nice big bit of car park, turn full lock to the right & slowly drive in a circle. If you keep hearing that clunking noise over & over, it'll be the CV.

$39 from eBay.

It doesnt do it on hard lock only a little turn but if you throw the car around corners then drive normally the knocking disapears for a while

Skywalker I dont feel the force. Is it a rhythmic click, random, or going to the bumps???

Is it one click or more? Gotta be more specific.

If its a loud thud dont think its your cv as that is a moderate click type noise.

Or is a single thud when you start straitening the wheel?

Need to hear the sound as it could be anything.

Don't remind me of them. Spent 15 minutes requesting an outer cv kit and inner boot. Ended up hanging up on them.

lemme guess, its also when u start accellerating from 0-10kms. almost every right turn it "sounds" like its your wheel stuck and your forcing it or something, but i serviced my cv sound is gone. but most likely your inner cv is moving in and out of th socket, in time will literally just snap! and make life a living hell for you and your car. best to buy another cv shaft with all the little things u need and service it.

there is no noise when you pull away only when turning, You can spin off as well and still no noise

The inner cv is designed to move in and out!

Does it make the clunk noise when stationary? A single clunk when straitening the could suggest your spring is not seated right. There is a piece of rubber that is in between the top of the spring and the upper housing of the strut.

When you turn the wheel back to straight it spring gets stuck on the rubber support then from the tension springs back into place. That's where the single thud comes from. If it is doing this when stationary see if you can see the spring getting stuck

It may only do this when loaded up so check to see if the rubber seat has any signs of the spring digging into it. If there is a sign you need to either buy another one or rotate it enough so the spring doesn't dig into the same part again.

Is there a turn when it always clunks? Go around the corner if it's a quiet street and before you straighten up tell someone to look at the spring.

It does seem to happen at at a specific turn and if it is under load but it doesnt make the noise when not moving
