Couple of guys from here, Dr_Jones & Sparhawk, graduated into them from here. Agree on the go hard, but also agree on the ugly.

Not ugly as in look like sh*t, but ugly as in look dated IMO, very 90's.

Big, heavy and yes a bitch to work on the engine. You almost need to take the engine out of the car when you want to do any thing to it :? .
But apart from that they are ok :) I would have one just to flog the sh*t out of, then get rid of it when it breaks lol.

I had to follow that tow truck for nearly 40kms, lol couldn't get close enough for ages to put a photo on here. Because I knew you all wouldn't believe me.
But yeah looked quite nice. But yeah still an outdated look about them. Whereas fto's still look modern

I wouldn't say that anymore.

The FTO looked modern in the early noughts, since then the car design has changed again, and the more modern look is angular; which the FTO is not.

The latest you could say an FTO was is 2004, but even that kind of pushes it, 2000 in my opinion.

Really? I was leaning more towards like 2006 - 2008 for a facelift anyway

I Agree, the FTO has a similar shape to the Hyundai Tiburon. An I'm pretty sure they built them up until 2008

It does all come down to personal opinion, but to me, the age shows.
Mid to late 90s vs 2008.

First 3 vs last 3, definitely a 10 year age gap in my opinion, and even comparing 2008 to 2012 shows...

Yeah I suppose
But the FTO certainly doesn't look like a car that was made in 1994
Whereas on the other hand the GTO does
Which was kinda my argument lol

The design was definitely ahead of its time, but having said that, it's time has passed. lol

The greatest comparison to the FTO is the DB9. It looks like an updated version of the FTO.
The lines are more crisp, less aesthetic bumps, etc.

The real difference is that cars today are much less 'aggressive' and primarily focused on safety (which means height compared to an fto/rx7 etc) and fuel economy/emissions.
People aren't as interested in agressively fast looking cars anymore, car market is slowly but surely dying out for people like us  i think the 86/BRZ might be the last one of its kind we see in a while.
