Seems to be a run of collisions lately. The police officers radio was going ballistic with call outs.

So. If you were heading city bound today in to the city on Victoria Rd, the reason you had issues is because of the below.

Fatality at the scene. Condolences to the 76 year old drivers family, and my sincerest best wishes for the driver of the truck (unharmed truck driver, but never nice seeing someone coming at you like the car did)

Travelling Paramatta way I looked in my rear view mirror to see a vehicle at high speed coming toward me (thinking they were dodging traffic I stayed in my lane where I was)
The next glance of the rear view revealed he was ON my bumper with a loud bang and glass sound.
I slowed down to merge over to a side street whilst the car continued to accelerate into oncoming traffic.

Suspected epileptic fit for the driver of the white car.

Myself and the truck driver are fine, but were both shaken, the truck driver had xrays and came up clear.

Unfortunate loss of life.

I've had that before, driving dad's car while mine was getting repaired. Doesn't take you long to realise something's up when your foot is off the pedals and you're accelerating up-hill. Knocking it into neutral normally fixes that issue though, or holding your foot hard on the brakes.

Hope you're alright Dan, it's never fun seeing something like that, let-alone being involved in it (even if only minor).

The driver of the car was definitely unconscious as he had no control of the car, no application of brakes or attempt to avoid collision.

The wife of the driver had reported a suspected epileptic fit. I at first thought either fell asleep (kind of cancelled that out after he mounted the meridian strip), heart attack, or stroke.
Either way the driver is no longer with us.

Yeah, rather shaken up, didnt help that no-one had umbrellas (I left my house this morning looking at it going 'it's a short trip down the car park')
Was given a blanket by the ambulance on sight, but yeah, mixture of cold, shock, realisation and what not meant I had to think hard about how to answer simple questions, couldn't write (though I can't anyway ) and just, yeah...

Fine now, just an 'eventful morning'
Damn needle they gave me to take blood (drug, alcohol test) is still hurting my arm meanwhile.

I bet that when it hits the news tonight the truck driver would be the reason for the crash . The media always turns it onto the truck driver 99% of the time.

Holy sh*t. Hope youre okay mate. Was listening to reports of it earlier on the radio, slow traffic, crash etc. but never really considered that it might be this bad

Don't believe it will make the news, atleast not graphically.
The media were never there, I was absent for just over an hour at Ryde hospital, but there was just so much traffic I don't think they could have filmed anything.

The media could have a field day with this meanwhile.

Can't win with the media.

Both myself and the constable in training there said the same thing however.
Had the driver in the white car collided with another car and not the truck, the situation could have been a-lot worse!

The truck driver had also almost come to a complete stop when he saw the car pull in to his lane, so fortunately there was no extra inertia in the mix.
The truck driver is extremely fortunate.

I'm now more on to anger at my insurance company, how big a prick they're being.

Driver is dead, expect me to call next of kin for their insuance details.................... and get report from police (which police NEVER disclose)

Ahuh...

30 mins waiting, 3 mins telling them the story, 30mins more waiting for a supervisor, to find out they're not available, and I'd best start calling EVERY insurance company if I don't want to call the deceased insurance details...

NRMA 8 mins on and off the phone were so eager to help (as they always are) but could only do so much.
If NRMA were $150 cheaper, which I told them, they would have my business.

Thats harsh. Unfortunately they have a business to run, and even more unfortunately they run it somewhat "cold heartedly" and lacking morality in some aspects. Pretty dick thing to do by them.

Hmm i rung every insurance agency i could find/think of (aami included) and NRMA was cheaper by almost a whopping $1000 for comprehensive. 1200 for a year, every where else was approximately 2000+ and i havent faulted them yet.
Almost worth the $150 though by the sounds of it - should ring a supervisor back and try get them to match or beat your current insurance - worth a try?

There's running a business Dan, and there's wiping their hands of responsibility to their customer.

The girl at NRMA told me to call them back after the matter was sorted and discuss prospects of moving to them.
Have had 5 cars in previous years with them and my CTP is always with them, as they are the cheapest.

AAMI have wasted my time and simply said F' off for not paying them more money.

The police even said the responsibility lyes with the insurance company in the event of a deceased driver, namely due to cause of 'if they have no next of kin'
NRMA also confirmed that in matters of this 'sensitive' nature, they would honor the claim and follow through on their side for the other parties details.

NRMA have helped me before where I more or less had a hit and run with the the other party being uninsured.

OH well, live and learn always.

First thing tomorrow on the phone and straight to a supervisor for a nice big lecture on customer service, humanity and where my money will be going after the car is repaired.
