How low can you go?

Post by ObsidianRadio »

Okay, so as of late, I'm completely and irrevocably financially fucked.

Here are my current expenses:
- Owe Commonwealth Bank $1500 in credit card repayments (calling me 3-4 times per day)
- Owe magistrates court $2400 in unpaid parking tickets (don't ask)
- 2 of 3 cars now unregistered (can't afford rego)
- All cars now uninsured (nek minnit...)
- I spend on average $150 on petrol each week (live 1.5hrs from city)
- Owe $800 in school/TAFE fees

This is my current income:
- Lost job in December
- Centrelink still haven't paid me (applied in jan!) Apparently still processing...
- Near impossible finding a job
- Applied for maccas, awaiting a call...
- Missus paying for my fuel (she only earns around $80 per week)
- Mum on low income and refuses to help me
- Dad on $500K+ per year, but refuses to pick up phone when i ask to borrow money (twat.)
- No confirmation as to when i'll see money next
- Black FTO now the daily as it is the only car with rego. 3 weeks left...
- Threatened to be kicked out of home as I have no money for board

sh*t.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to acquire emergency cash to get me by until i find employment or until my benefits pay out? Any lenders that require no financial income? I'd rather not hold up petrol stations, I'd prefer not to get arrested...

This is so humiliating but oh well

sh*t man that sucks :(

Just one of those things that happen in life bro, just came out of a pretty tough financial time myself - pretty much thanks to Sahin for scoring me a sweet job.

Im not much of a financial advisor - but heres a few things that might help.

Ring commonwealth and apply for hardship on the credit card - you have the circumstances and it will stop them harassing you and wont severly damage your credit rating, however the bank will cancel the card once it is paid out in full, alternatively if you can afford anything at all you might be able to go on some kind of agreed payment plan and keep the card and use it when its back under its limit.
Surely there is some kind of payment options with the parking tickets? they cant expect everyone to fork out thousands of dollars in fines every time. Ive got about 4k myself im paying off 80 a month for the next several years through SPER.
As long as there is some kind of transport to get in and out of where you need to go its not the most pressing matter considering (although still a priority down the line)
Is public transport of any kind viable?
Not sure what options there are with the school fees, hopefully they have some kind of plan as well.

In my experience its always best to let who you owe money to whats going on and youre situation. Letting the bank know you lost your job and dont have an income will get them off your back and onto your side, after all they want to get their money!
Honestly, if i had any kind of surplus money i would lend a hand :(
Kinda sucks that your dad is playing the ignoring game - parents are there to love and support you when sh*t turns real and to give guidance so that you may pass that on to your kids one day. Hopefully he will come to his senses and pick up the phone and realise that the son is in a tight spot...
Sorry i cant help any further mate, best advice i can give you is chin up and keep looking.

Forgot to add -
I dont think their are any places that do loans for someone in your circumstances, everywhere is pretty tight nowadays. you MIGHT get lucky with one company, but if ive learned anything its that you shouldnt borrow from someone to pay someone else back. it will only put you in more debt in the longrun. Talk to the people you owe money too, almost everywhere has some kind of procedure in place for when this happens to people. Its not as uncommon as you think.

Bennoz likes hookers ;)

Seriously sounds like the last 30 years of my life

I have only racked up over $60,000 in credit card debt to get through my life.

My life will be turning around soon though.

Keep on keeping on Obsidian, it will only take you another 20-30 years to get on top of it all.

EDIT: take up busking

EDIT2: All I'm trying to say is that sh*t always happens in life but if you keep your chin up and keep plugging away everything will work out.....................................eventually!

Grow some weed, sell it %100 profit, but it's a delayed process
Heroin and ice should be easy to tick up grams for 600ish and then resell at 150-200 a point, sell 10 points out front of cento in a few hours $1400 profit, go tick up a ball :) but! It's a dirty fkn game.
Get all your friends and family to buy the sudo cold and flu packets from the chemist for $25 a pack and then ANY bikie member will buy any amount for $100 each.
Pimp sluts to truckies?
See There's plenty of options

Nah but there is numerous loan places that will lend money without doing credit checks and sh*t. BUT you must do your research Nd comparing

Why 3 cars?

If you could convince yourself to sell one you could pay all of it out almost.

Or pay half of them each out and do payment plans with the rest of the cash.

Buy yourself some time while you find a new job.

yeah mate, sell the cars. If you really like them that much, you can always buy similar ones later (and cheaper, much cheaper than the interest you are racking up on money owed). Sell all three if you have to.

Speak to everyone you own money to, let them know the situation, more than likely they'll be able to arrange something, if not, no harm trying. DO NOT borrow money to pay back money, it's the definition of vicious cycle. Talk to a debt consolidation company? declare bankruptcy as a last resort (it gets all the creditors off your back, but does ruin your credit rating for technically 7 years, but realistically.. life)

And why are you spending $150 on fuel each week if you don't have a job? might be a stupid question, but public transport has to be cheaper than that (assuming it's a viable option).

Sounds like there's not much your mother can do to help anyway, and as for your dad, if he's not willing to help then so be it, no point in dwelling over it.

As for work, what did you do before? What can you do? If you are desperate enough and driven enough, you will find work... mow lawns, labourer, deliver news papers if you have to... failing that, break into your dad's house :D <--JK

Most importantly, keep your head up buddy. You'll get through it, and when you do (eventually), you will be all the wiser for it.

Well one of the cars is the Red FTO, which im sure i dont have to explain that one.
One is the Black FTO, which you probably dont want to sell your only source of transport when you get a job.
Not sure what the other one is, but it might not be viable - i.e. have a loan against it or something.
