WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
Hey guys,
So, I had an accident in my boyfriend's FTO GPX. I'm the worst girlfriend ever.
Went up a gutter and cleanly broke off the front left corner of his Veilside.
While it was a clean break, I'm looking at the options of getting it re-fibreglassed or buy a whole one in general.
I already have someone lined up to paint/fit.
Located in Canberra.
I am staying away from New Gel, they rip people off ridiculously.
I'm on a tight budget for buying/postage expenses so if anyone can help me out that would be awesome.
Thanks guys,
theblackbrumby
P.S. - It's the blue one, I'm fairly sure it's a Veilside....?

Re: WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
There are beter bars out there.
Look for the bars by Dwayne.. Pick up in Canberra.. And ftownage is selling a nice pre-facelift t's factory bar.
Most of the crew here don't care much for V-side.. But just throwing out some other options..

Yep, New gel. They closed a couple of months ago, so aren't an option anymore. I can probably help as I have access to a cheap fibreglssser in canberra. Send me a pm with contact details and well go from there.
Cheers

Re: WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
Thank you for all the replies folks! We know about new gel as they repaired this car previously and they did a terrible job on paint matching. It got taken back but apparently according to the boy it was a nightmare! So he decided to just live with it.
Is the price for a bumper usually about $300 plus $120 for postage? I saw a bumper on ebay aus for that price. Am I being a good girlfriend in fixing my boy's pride and joy?
Any other fto lovers in canberra?
This picture is the damage plus the crummy paint match.

You should be able to get a bumper much cheaper than that if youre still looking for a VS or stock one. especially is someone has to to sell from the forums. dont know if anyone has one though haha.
and i'm from canberra dont have a bumper though..

I work in Canberra although I live down the South Coast. I dont think that is a terrible price, but be prepared for it to require quite a bit of work to fit properly. The Veilside bars dont costas much to buy, but usually cost quite a bitmore to fit.

I am still looking for a veilside, the boy is being very specific. I have found someone to paint it once I get it.
dstock - do you have any veilsides in stock right now? If so, how much for that and it being painted?

No, im afraid not. Have Veilside sideskirts and may have Veilside rear bar, but not Veilside front bar. You are best going for the one on Ebay, but be prepared to spend a bit getting it to fit right.
Good luck with it. It looks mint in the original pictures you posted. Like the colour too. You both should try and get to the bonfire next April at my place. Biggest event of the year.

Getting it to fit right? Are they tricky pains in the behinds? The dude who is painting for me said he will help me take on and off/fit it for no extra charge. Just the paint work and its apparently being baked afterbbeing painted?
I am new to the car world so any tips and tricks would be awesomr.
The paint looks normal in the original photo because he tweaked it to match.

Re: WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
The Veilside bars made in Australia are copies of the original and are notorious for not fitting properly. They usually take quite a bit of work to get a good fit. Having said that, you may get lucky, but dont expect it. I havent tried to fit one myself (I much prefer the curves of the Ts Factory and Bozz front bars), ive just heard the stories over the years from others.

BTW, You've only snapped the lower skirt. VS front bars are a two piece set, you should be able to see anchoring bolts if you look from below.
Don't know if that'll make the search any easier, but at least you shouldn't have to worry about fit for the main part.

Re: WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
Problem with that is that a new bottom section probably isnt going to line up with the old veilside bar as i doubt itd be out of the same mould

Re: WTB: Mitsubishi FTO Veilside Style Front Bumper
Probably easier to remould the lower skirt only than to mate up the upper bumper to the panels.
Also, less paint.

Please show your boyfriend my bar and see what he thinks. The veilside looks like a snowplow. Keep saying that too him "hows your snowplow going?"
