So how easy was it to put the Magna TB in were there any mods needed ??

it aint that hard...as a matter of fact It's fairly easy.

The TB itself is a bolt on unit but I swapped the bottom part (water/coolant valve i think it is) of the FTO's to the Magna's TB to make use of the OEM hose fittings. The one's on the Magna is facing the opposite direction, u can still use it but you'll need to change the hose fitting to a longer ones.

I dont have any dyno figures yet but I can feel a much better throttle response. And thats without boring the intake path. Expect to get more result if the intake patk is bored out to match the bigger TB.

How difficult are the throttle bodies to source? I'm in the UK, but would like to get hold of a 65mm TB.

Any offers? :D

Have a look at our wreckers: http://www.partslocator.com.au/ to see if you can scratch one up there. Otherwise, make one yourself!
Here's a thread from the UK forum - guy makes his own 63mm, but its all dependant on what size butterfly you can buy. I know the 65mm one is an off the shelf part...

I have tried the bored out FTO TB and the machine shop ruined a perfectly good Throttle body, so I am now looking for a 65mm TB.

I've tried your breakers, if anyone can get hold of one and doesn't find posting one out to the UK I would be greatful!

Will let you know p13nox..
Im on the hunt for a few, cause I have a feeling every FTO owner and their dog will be after one soon. I'll try and get as many as I can. Going wrecker shopping tomorrow - its been so long since Ive been to Blacktown!

Also found that the Magna TB's can also use a bit of work. Check this link:
http://neilk.customer.netspace.net.au/h ... rottle.htm
Although he's doing it to a TF Magna, I was speaking to a wrecker today & he said (with one of each in his hand - TR & TF) that they are very similar...

Hrd,

Ive been thinking of getting a lancer and transplanting a Mivec engine into it, just wondering was it easy to do and how much it costed all up ?? Do you think i could get away with buying a manual lancer and putting in a mivec engine with tip gear box ?? Or would i have to start with a auto lancer ?
