GPX = MIVEC FTO
GR = Non MIVEC FTO.
MIVEC is a cam and valve changing process that occurs at ~5500RPM and is very similar to Honda's VTECH and Toyota's VVTi.
The GPX has 200BHP in factory form while the GR is slightly less, however (as some people here can atest to) there are some freak GR's out there that haul some serious butt.
Easiest way to tell the difference is to pop the bonnet and if the oil cap is on the left then it's a GPX.

Off the top of my head I can only remember a few differences.
The air intake tube has the MAF sensor just behind the filter box on the GR.
The GR's brakes are slightly different as well, something to do with the size of the front caliper I beleive.
The extractors and exhaust are also different in regards to fitting of aftermarket equipment.
If you spend a bit of time browsing through the technical section I'm sure you'll find out plenty of information.

Yep, GPX has larger brakes (they can be interchanged thou)
Air bags were an option on both cars - you can pick them by the factory momo sterring wheel. ABS was also an option on both cars.
Both GR & GPX have climate control, where-as the GPvR had it removed for weight reduction.
