There are some very minor scuffs on the bodywork, but this is expected for the age of wear and tear on a '96 model car. The minor cracks on the front spoiler and rear wing will be fixed prior to delivery of the car.
** Note: the bodywork will be fixed at buyer's expense as payment of deposit / sign of goodwill.

The engine has been immaculately maintained (serviced every 3 months with top grade Motul fully synthetic racing oil), which was developed & built by Apex'i specialist tuner Craig Pisa (now working for Revzone @ Nunawading). Over $25K was spent on top of the purchase of the car (incl R&D costs on the numerous turbo / tuning configurations).

Rather than boasting wild power figures with crazy ignition advance in the tuning, I will honestly state for the record that my car was never intended to be setup as a horsepower hero... Sure it has made some good numbers in the past (from 155 - 170kw at some stage), but for the sake of reliability I have opted for a conservative tune, which is still good enough to scare some 200SX's and MR2 turbos *looks @ Mil*:P

The car makes approx 136kw at the wheels peaking @ 6000rpm (on approx 29deg ambient air temp) with 0.4bar of boost. The current tune means that you won't have to redline the engine to make max power, whilst retaining some good midrange punch. Whilst offboost drivability is very similar to std NA MIVEC, full boost is achieved at around 3700rpm, which is a good balance between economy and the odd squirts of fun.

The car has been running reliably since Sept 2004, with conservative tuning, good quality fuel and common sense. It's been running on a very low-mileage spare 6A12 bottom end since the R&D was completed approx 10,000kms ago (not that you'd want to drive around with a worn out and thrashed R&D motor, would you? ;) )

Any questions feel free to discuss - there are many regular members here who have seen or in some cases had a ride in my car in person so they'll be able to answer some of your queries in the meantime when i'm not around. I will try my best to respond / elaborate as soon as I can where necessary...

Only enquiries from genuine buyers will be accepted - I will not waste my time with joyriders or tyrekickers.

Either send me a PM or email me ---> mikey168@ncable.net.au

THANKS.

heheheh fire away your questions ppl. I'm here to answer them all, just line up behind that dude over there ahhahahaa

Since you not going brag about your car I'll do it for you heheeheh This thing has been featured in Hot4 & Speed. It’s not a ricer, but it’s certainly unique with its look & the performance to match. I've been in it & drag it before ehehehe so I can vouch for this beast.

For those who like to check it out, mikey might make a "special" appearance at the Vic cruise this Sunday. *you better turn up mikey*

At the moment I think he prefer to sell it as a whole, as he haven't got time to seperate it. The turbo kit cost him over $15k due to quality parts & lots of R&D by well know professional. Unless you going to offer an amount that he can't refuse
dj_ules wrote:you havent mentioned how many kms. ?
Its less then 88000km at the moment.

$25K for an FTO 8O

I know this is a turbo, but when some dealers are only offering $3K for FTO's as a trade-in and when others with FTO's apparently in top condition are having to drop the price to around $13K to sell them, $25K seems a bit high.

Does the car still redline at 9K RPM?

Is there any warranty on the turbo?

Is it street legal, is there paperwork to back this up?

How much does insurance cost you?

Well I think you need to get your facts straight first, the auto turbo FTO was sold for around $22k not long ago & this one had slightly more power due to manual & higher spec setup.

And like I said in the other post, the same buy who brought the $13k FTO was going to get an $18-19k FTO.

I suggest for those who actually not interested on any car in the Car For Sales section, please keep the comment to themself.

Or if you want to keep bagging FTO prices to get seller to lower their price, so it will become your budget, then please go to another forum. We know the prices had drop for the FTO & we don't need people to keep reminding us how many "sh*t box" out there are selling at a scrap yard price.

My questions are genuine - being a turbo this has sparked the interest of a friend of mine, so if you could let me know the answers, I'll pass them on.

Trade in price is not really applicable. ALL dealers buying a car will offer you peanuts - is a sad reflection of the trade, but thats the way it is

This car is registered and driven daily - yes it is street legal.

Turbo FTO's are rare. Yes it is worth the price - it is a stand out car.

Decent FTO's will still get a good price. If you want a cheapie - you'll get a cheapie - and then spend what you saved fixing it up. Maybe you should be looking at something like a Hyundai....

Many "old timers" in this club have seen this car and we can tell you its worth the money.

$25K for an FTO
This really isn't an FTO anymore. :)

The wheels alone on this car costs a few thousand dollars.

The 11K FTO's are the equivalent of the 20k R32 GTR's that are starting to hit the open market.....sure it looks like an inviting offer but I garuntee you something will go (if not already) to the crapper on it. :(

Good luck with sale and your overseas ventures Mikey.

You will find that there are people around that are prepared to pay that for a decent FTO. I had three buyers wanting mine all at the same time last year and it sold for over $25K. That's without turbo or manual gearbox and over 100000 klms too. It was tiptronic without any engine mods, just lots of visual and stereo mods. "It's only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it" works here for both sellers of decent FTOs and also dealers buying trade ins.

thanks to those who have vouched for my car... Your support is much appreciated. :)

NOW, in response to:
Does the car still redline at 9K RPM?
stock FTO does not redline at 9K, and if you have read my post carefully, it's pointless for you to do so since it makes more power at lower revs (~6000rpm) than an NA equivalent at higher revs, hence you don't have to 'stress' the engine as much (which is why it has been running reliably until now due to less wear n' tear)
Is there any warranty on the turbo?
if you can find a private sale for a modified skyline that comes with a warranty for the turbo, let me know... that said, you can always find your own 3rd party warranty company ;)
Is it street legal, is there paperwork to back this up?
I have not been served with a canary defect notice once in my 2-3 years of ownership so yes it is street legal once I obtain the RWC... but for what it's worth:

1) many here will vouch that the noise generated by my exhaust system is nowhere near as loud as some NA cars... (It has been EPA tested for noise which passed easily)

2) my ride height is comfortably above the legal 100mm ride height limit... (fully laden)

3) there are no tall or sharp-edged aluminium/CF GT wings or bonnet fitted... (authorities view this as a pedestrian safety hazard)

4) there are no 'fully-sick' lairy graphics / paintjob on the bodywork of the car (no need for unwanted attention)

5) the tyres have about 65-70% tread remaining since the day I got my rims (i'm not a burnout junkie like some... :P)

by the way. in all my years living around the Knox area (those who know Melbourne will tell you how NOTORIOUS it is for ultra-picky cops on modified cars...), I have not been pulled over once - and let's just hope it stays that way lol
How much does insurance cost you?
insurance will vary on a variety of circumstances, therefore my insurance costs are irrelevant because it will not apply in your situation... (i'm a rating-1 driver for the past 5 years, with no speeding fines and primary address in a regional area of Victoria (with significantly lower risk of theft)
when some dealers are only offering $3K for FTO's as a trade-in and when others with FTO's apparently in top condition are having to drop the price to around $13K to sell them, $25K seems a bit high.
it's amusing to say the least why ppl are comparing my car with trade-in prices from dealers... it's like comparing apples & oranges IMO, but hey i guess some ppl just don't understand...
may i ask how much petrol your car consume?
I'm averaging approx 11-12litres per 100kms, with 40% highway driving and 60% normal free-flowing traffic... if you got a heavy right foot, be prepared to pay for the fun, just like any other turbo cars... (you can always retune it for slightly better economy, depending on how far you wanna go, at your own risk)
you havent mentioned how many kms. ?
the car had recently just tipped over 89,000kms.. bear in mind however, the 6A12 bottom end was replaced with a spare block (with approx 50,000km) after the R&D was completed... The swap was done approx 10,000kms ago
u sure u dont wanna just slip that engine into mine
make me an offer I cannot refuse Dave, so until then... NO :P
can the turbo kit be sold seperately?
make me an offer I cannot refuse Jon, so until then... NO :P By the way, the kit was intended for MIVEC manual only, so there will be some unknown associated costs if you want to adapt it to a tiptronic or non-MIVEC engine, even if you are willing to fork out a decent offer for the kit alone...

I will organise to have some pics of my car taken over the weekend ;) For now do a search on this forum and you'll find a few photos of my car floating around somewhere in this site... (i cbf'd looking for them myself anymore lolol)

In the meantime, anymore questions?? :D

I have sold my HID unit to a mate of mine at work (for a decent price) so now the car will come with std halogen headlights...

to compensate for this I have reduced the price of the car to $24K negotiable.

If you would like the car to be fitted with HID lights, I can get excellent quality HID kits for a very good price therefore it can be arranged for an additional fee (at buyer's expense).

Interested members please feel free to send me a PM.

Also, the weather's been pretty bad nowadays and due to busy preparations for CNY, I've had not had the opportunity to take some decent pics of my car - stay tuned however, i will endeavour to post them up as soon as I get the chance...

GPXX, best of luck with the car mate. Being a newbie from a different continent. I can safely say that I have not seen your car but it sounds something special.

But folks, pleeeasse don't be telling a fellow fto enthusiast that he would be better off looking at a Hyundai. We are all here for the one car.

Just a point of view
