Hey everybody, I'm goin to do my tappets this weekend because my engine is starting to get noisy, the thing I want to ask is where can I get a intake manifold gasket, also while I got the intake manifold off I'm want to change the spark plugs and timing belt.

could I get these from repco because its near work and I can get it during lunch, also what is the gap size for the spark plugs.

I dunno but I'm intrested to see where you can get the inlet gasket from...I was gonna rip this off soon and clean it with the TB.

you have a gr? or gpx?

I've got a GPX, I was hoping it would be easier to get a intake manifold gasket because I couldn't get a exhaust gasket and ended up making it myself, but then again I haven't tryied repco yet.

I have already pulled off the front cover so to make the tool to loosen the locknut, it doesn't look too bad of a job. I want to get the intake gasket first before I pull the intake manifold off and do everything in one go, tappet and spark plugs.

Thanks for the links 'mxysxy', but isn't camskill in the UK, I guess I will have to go with them if I can't get the intake manifold gasket, hope not, I will find out tomorrow, I will make some phone calls and that.

there you go...mitsi genuine parts!! hehe hey were you talking about the tappet tool before?? I assume u loosen the tappet lock nut and then simply adjust with some feeler guages...I'm too lazy and took it to Lee in melb who's done this heaps of times and cot me like $250.

Thanks for finding that out for me, and thanks again for all your help guys.

The tool i was talking about was to loosen the the locknut, I had to modify a ring spanner to get to the nut, when you loosen the nut you got a screw that you use to adjust the gap, then you got the feeler gauges to measure the gap, but the thing is that the nut sits under the cam, which is a pain in the arse to get to, took forever to make the tool.

Ben has done an excellent DIY to explain replacing GR tappets.
Why don’t you take this one step forward and put a DIY on step by step how to adjust the GPX tappets. Don’t need to get in to how to remove the manifold and rocker cover, as Ben has already done this.
This will be a great help for many of us.
I will be getting in to this as soon as my car back as well.
Thanks

Make a DIY, yeah sounds good, I will get onto it this weekend, also should I explane how to make the tool aswell, The one that I made is nothing flash but does the job.

Today I also went to Mitsubishi Spare Parts to get a Timing belt and a Intake manifold gasket, the gasket cost $21 and the timing belt is nearly $300 but I got it down to around $240 with the trade discount which is still a lot, so I will try repco tomorrow, I want to know if anyone knew what belt is in the GPX, how many tooth it is.

Thanks.

I guide to adjust GPX tappets would be gold...I have a good idea how to make the tool and do it but until u do u never really know..

Go the DIY!!
