What kinda filter can i get from K&N?

Is it a good brand? Heard many people using that.

Do I need to do any mod to the piping? or rather just a "plug and play" thing?

Well having a pod filter only won't do jack sh*t unless u have a bigger pipe for air flow (as i've been told by Bennoz) which is pretty cheap, u'll get a minimum 2kw at the wheels or 3-4 if u have a mivec - this is for manual not sure abt auto

And the best thing about the Filter is not just the few kilowatts, but the Induction noise.

the induction noise is awsome on the fto...

I like the Unifilter setups...and I also have the UAS intake pipe...lots of posts on these - do a search.

you will need to box it up to get any gain...most of the gain is from replacing the stock intake pipe...not so much the pod but it sure sounds great...

What kinda piping i have to get? Do I need to custom made the pipes or I can just buy aftermarket? Because there's very limited space in the engine bay right...

Oh and also, the reason I mentioned about K&N is because I got an email from autobarn saying that they got sales for k&N filter and it costs only 70 bucks...

$100 for apexi one... theyre better because they keep the engine cleaner and also you dont need to clean them unlike the k&n

u don't need to clean them? highly doubt that they are filters and their job is to catch crap.

there are a number of types of filters (not brand) to look out for:

Paper (usuually the stock filter type)
Oiled Paper
Cotton Gauze (K&N etc all ususally reside in this bracket)
OIled Foam (similar to Unifilter)

Oiled foam is less restrictive than paper, and can have much higher filter properties which generally means they ahve a large surface area...they also need to be mainatained i.e. re-oiled every say 15,000 kms

Instresting to note that that Cotton Gauze is less restrictive than Paper but has poorer filter properties than all of the above types...so in reality...the K&N type is letting bigger sized dust particles into your engine...

Thats the uk forums. Keep in mind that test was done some years ago... some products have improved in that time

im using a K&N filter along with an ARC chamber...

u should come around and listen to the sound of the suction its $$$.

i dont hve any issues with the K&N filter, and I would recommend em.

But i suppose, all to their own ey...

I run a K&N Air Extreme, its a brilliant filter. Power difference between running this filter & no filter at all was almost negligible - Dyno tested at UAS. Think I paid about $85 for it...

since the national president is having it, and highly recommending it, i may make it as my consideration

If you can't be f*cked installing the whole cold air intake setup.......just buy yourself a K&N replacement filter. You'll probably get about the same power but you won't get the growling noise.

I just installed the Spectre system from on the run performance and can not believe the difference in sound! Its awesome!

hey guys..

i went to repco today, and was going to get a filter. however, there's some cheap filter with 34 bucks available and also k&n for 70 bucks. from the outside, they seems quite same to me, but the shopkeeper told me that they use different material for filtering..

then i brought both out to my car as my car was just parked outside, and try to fix them to my car... However, even when i manage to fix the cheap stuff to my stock pipe, there's no much difference in the "suction" sound which i expect to hear it...

I didnt manage to fix the K&N one because it is not fitted..

So, just wanna ask whether i have to get the pipe changed with the K&N filter? and also, if i just changed the air filter, does it produce the cool suction sound? Which RPM is the best to hear it?

definetly go the K&N.

You will get a big performance boost if you change the piping over.
There are several different choices you can make. I have a stainless steel pipe that looks wikkid!

You will REALLY notice the difference when your driving down the road and hit the MIVEC kick in point around 5800 rpm.

erm, if i were to get a pipe for my filter, is there any specific ones? Do I need to take note of the space available in the engine bay for the pipe?
